Varsity Baseball
The baseball team completed an exceptional regular season with a 15-1 record and will host a quarterfinal playoff game on Saturday, June 6 (time TBD). Congratulations to the team on a tremendous season and best of luck in the postseason.

Our middle school track and field athletes had an incredible season. Eighteen athletes qualified for the regional CVL Championship Meet on May 28. We are proud of our student-athletes and coaches for their efforts and look forward to an exciting future for the program. We are especially thrilled that construction of our new tennis courts is scheduled for this summer, providing an outstanding facility that will benefit current and future Huskies for years to come.

Sportsmanship Recognition
Congratulations to our athletic programs on being recognized by the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association Sportsmanship Committee!

This recognition reflects the integrity, respect, fair play, and positive character demonstrated by our student-athletes, coaches, and community throughout the year.

Step Up Night
For incoming 7th Grade Families and Students: Thursday, June 4th at 5:30
From the Principal
Hello MRMHS Families!
As we enter the final weeks of the school year, I want to take a moment to thank our students, families, and staff for a wonderful first year together at Monadnock Regional Middle High School. This year has been filled with learning, growth, successes, challenges, and countless opportunities to better understand our school community. I am incredibly grateful for the warm welcome I have received and excited about the many ideas we have for continuing to strengthen and grow MRMHS in the years ahead.
The end of the school year is always a special time. While the pace seems to accelerate, it also gives us an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of our students. From concerts, athletic events, awards nights, field trips, and promotion ceremonies to graduation and countless classroom projects and presentations, there is much to recognize and appreciate. These moments remind us of the hard work and character our students demonstrate every day.
As we celebrate, we also remain focused on finishing the year strong. Final assessments, projects, exams, and end-of-year learning experiences continue across all grade levels. We encourage students to stay engaged, persevere through the final stretch, and take pride in the work they have accomplished throughout the year. How we finish matters just as much as how we start.
Please continue to encourage your student to attend regularly, remain focused in class, complete assignments, and demonstrate respect for peers, staff, and our school community. Your partnership and support make a tremendous difference.
As we look ahead, we will also be saying goodbye to some valued members of our school community while welcoming new students and staff over the summer. These transitions are a natural part of every school year and provide opportunities to reflect on contributions made while looking forward to new beginnings.
Please keep an eye on communications and important end-of-year dates and events. We look forward to celebrating these final weeks together and closing out a successful school as a community.
Thank you again for your support, partnership, and commitment to Monadnock Regional Middle High School. I wish everyone a strong finish to the year and a safe, enjoyable summer.

Recent MRMHS Events
On May 12, Students in Mrs. Kelley's AP Literature and Honors 11th Grade English classes and Mr. Weber's AP Language class visited The Breakers and Marble House mansions in Newport, RI, where they toured the two properties. Students learned about life during the Gilded Age, and made connections between these historic landmarks and characteristics of different literary homes in books like F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. Rosecliff, another home that was unfortunately, under restoration, was actually used in the film version of The Great Gatsby, produced in 1974 staring Mia Farrow and Robert Redford. The two properties visited provided a perspective of life for the characters depicted in the book, the setting, and other works, nevertheless.
The Breakers is considered "the grandest of Newport's summer "cottages." It was built for the Vanderbilts and modeled on Italian Renaissance palaces. Marble House, too, was built for members of the Vanderbilt family as a 39th birthday present for Alva Vanderbilt from her husband, William. At the time, the home cost 11 million dollars to construct. For perspective, if it were built today, the price tag would be around 400 million dollars. Students got to view rooms with walls of gold, grand staircases, vaulted Gothic ceilings, and details of the time. We picnic on the lawn of The Breakers with views of the ocean and beautiful weather
Mr. Lambert’s AP European History class traveled to the Worcester Art Museum on May 27th. They saw Ancient Greek and Roman artifacts, a building from a medieval monastery, and European artwork from before the Renaissance through the modern day. They also saw one of the largest collections of armor in North America!
Mr. Lambert's AP US History class took a field trip to Boston, MA on Thursday, May 21. They walked the entire Freedom Trail, toured the USS Constitution, and gave 20 short presentations they each researched for each historical landmark they got to along the way. They learned a lot, had fun, and were very tired by the time they got home!

Summertime Enrichment
Summertime is a prime time for teens to grow their interests through different opportunities. A summer job can be a great time for your teen to make some money, learn more about responsibility, and practice time management and workplace skills, but right now finding a summer job might be difficult in today’s economy (as referenced in this ABC News article). If a job is not an option, there are other things that could be a good ideas if it works with your schedule and budget.
Downtime is of course important for students to take that break over the summer, but an online early college class or VLACS course could be a good way to keep those school skills strong over the summer break. Another opportunity could be a pre-college program. These programs offer high school students the opportunity to do a focused program in an area of interest while students live on campus and get that experience.
If your student is an athlete, it could be a good time to look for skill development programs for different sports, especially if they are interested in trying something new.
It is never too early to start visiting colleges or universities your teen might be interested in attending. Summer is a great time to take campus tours and explore local areas around the school. There are so many options for schools and trade programs; take advantage of the summer downtime to explore potential post-secondary opportunities.
Whatever your teen does this summer, it is a great time for them to take advantage of opportunities to explore their interests.

Summer Enrichment Ideas for Middle School Students
Summer is an important time for middle school students to rest, recharge, and have fun, but it can also be a wonderful opportunity for growth, creativity, and exploration. Enrichment activities help students stay engaged, build confidence, discover new interests, and continue developing important academic and social skills outside of the classroom. Families do not need to create a packed schedule to have a meaningful summer. Even small activities and experiences can make a big impact. Here are some ideas you may wish to explore this summer:
Camps and Recreation Programs:
Summer camps and local recreation programs provide students with opportunities to stay active, make friends, and try new activities in a supportive environment.
Possible options include:
Day camps
Sports camps
STEM or robotics camps
Art, theater, dance, or music programs
Nature and outdoor education camps
Cooking or baking classes
Community recreation programs
Library summer activities
These experiences can help students develop teamwork, independence, and problem-solving skills while having fun.
Reading for Enjoyment:
Reading during the summer helps students maintain literacy skills and build vocabulary, comprehension, and imagination.
Encourage students to:
Choose books based on their interests
Participate in local library reading programs
Listen to audiobooks during travel or downtime
Read magazines, graphic novels, biographies, or nonfiction
Start a book series or family reading challenge
The most important goal is helping students see reading as enjoyable rather than just academic.
Creative and Hands-On Learning:
Middle school students often thrive when they can create, build, experiment, and explore.
Ideas include:
Learning photography or video editing
Building models or crafts
Writing stories, comics, or journals
Gardening
Sewing or knitting
Learning simple coding or game design
Creating music or digital art
Trying science experiments at home
Creative projects encourage curiosity, persistence, and independent thinking.
Outdoor Exploration and Physical Activity:
Summer is a perfect time for students to unplug and spend time outdoors.
Families can encourage:
Hiking and nature walks
Bike riding
Swimming
Fishing
Geocaching
Community sports leagues
Backyard games and activities
Exploring local parks and trails
Physical activity supports both mental and physical wellness while helping students stay socially connected.
Volunteering and Community Involvement:
Middle school students are often eager to help and contribute when given the opportunity.
Students may enjoy:
Helping at community events
Assisting younger children at camps or programs
Participating in food drives
Helping neighbors or family members
Supporting animal shelters or local organizations
Volunteer experiences can help students build empathy, responsibility, and leadership skills.
Online Learning Opportunities:
Technology can be used positively during the summer when balanced with offline activities.
Students may enjoy:
Educational games and learning platforms
Coding programs
Language learning apps
Virtual museum tours
Art and music tutorials
Online drawing or design classes
STEM challenges and competitions
Families are encouraged to monitor screen time while also recognizing that technology can support creativity and learning.
Life Skills and Independence:
Summer is also a great time for students to build practical life skills that support independence and confidence.
Students can practice:
Cooking simple meals
Budgeting and saving money
Time management
Babysitting skills
Organization and planning
Pet care
Household responsibilities
These experiences help prepare students for high school and beyond.
Family Experiences Matter Too:
Not every enrichment opportunity needs to be formal or expensive. Family activities and everyday experiences can create meaningful learning opportunities.
Simple ideas include:
Visiting museums or historical sites
Exploring local festivals and events
Taking day trips
Trying new hobbies together
Cooking meals as a family
Visiting farmers' markets or community events
Conversations, experiences, and time together often create some of the most valuable learning moments. A successful summer does not need to be highly structured. Students benefit from a healthy balance of activity, downtime, social connection, creativity, and rest. By encouraging curiosity, exploration, and new experiences, families can help middle school students return to school feeling confident, engaged, and ready for a new year of learning. We hope all students have a fun, safe, and enriching summer!
