March 2026
A Word From Our Principal Mr. Agee
We've successfully concluded the second trimester, and I want to express how incredibly proud I am of our students and staff at Pacific Intermediate. The dedication, hard work, and resilience demonstrated by our entire school community have made this trimester a remarkable success. We saw significant academic growth and maintained a positive and supportive learning environment. This momentum is exactly what we need as we head into the final and crucial third trimester.
As we move into March, I want to remind all families about our upcoming Spring Break. School will be closed from Monday, March 16th through Friday, March 20th. We encourage everyone to use this time for rest, relaxation, and quality time together. We look forward to welcoming all our students back on Monday, March 23rd, refreshed and ready to finish the school year strong.
Mark your calendars for a special evening! We are thrilled to host our annual PI Night on Thursday, March 12th. Join us after school for an evening of fun for the whole family, featuring delicious pie, engaging activities, and a final chance to visit our school book fair. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our community and get involved before Spring Break.
Looking ahead, we are already planning for a successful next school year! Enrollment for the 2026-2027 normal school year is officially open. It is crucial that all current families complete the re-enrollment process as soon as possible to ensure we have accurate numbers for planning, staffing and resources. Additionally, we are also accepting registrations for our Summer School program. The summer program offers fantastic opportunities for academic enrichment and skill reinforcement, and we encourage all interested families to register early, as space can be limited. Information packets and enrollment forms for both the regular school year and summer school are available through Infinite Campus.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education. We wish you a wonderful and safe Spring Break!
Sincerely,
Matt Agee
Pacific Intermediate Principal
PROPOSITION S: SAFE SCHOOLS FOR A STRONG FUTURE
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, residents of the Meramec Valley R-III School District will vote on a $43 million general obligation bond issue.
The proposed measure will appear on ballots as Proposition S. If it's approved by at least 57.14% of voters, approximately $38 million of the bond's total would be used to construct a new energy-efficient middle school with a storm shelter to replace Pacific Intermediate.
MVR-III property taxpayers WOULD NOT see property tax rates increase because of an approved bond issue.

Dear Pacific Intermediate Families,
The school year has been going well. I can't believe we are already in the third trimester. It has been great getting to know our students and building relationships. Please know that we are here to support both you and your child throughout this school year. Clear communication between home and school is one of the most important ways we can work together to ensure a smooth and successful year. If questions or concerns come up, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher.
The Importance of Homework
Homework is an essential part of reinforcing daily learning. It allows students to practice skills taught in class and build confidence in their abilities. Homework is also a reflection of responsibility and preparation for class. Please help encourage your child to complete and return homework on time each day. It is important to note that homework is not just “50% of their grade”—it plays a significant role in overall success by supporting mastery of skills and readiness for assessments.
What We’re Learning in Math This Month
In math, we will continue the fractions unit. We will be operating with fractions, mixed numbers, and improper fractions. A big focus will be on adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators and then moving into multiplying and dividing fractions, mixed numbers, and improper fractions. By the end of the month, we will move into decimal operations.
Fraction Operations:
Adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators.
Multiplying and dividing fractions
Simplifying fractions
Decimal Operations:
Reading and writing decimals
Adding and subtracting decimals
Multiplying and dividing decimals
We are so grateful for your partnership and support. Together, we can make this a year full of growth, confidence, and success for every child.

6th Grade Math: Mrs. Voss & Mrs. Weil
6th-grade regular math classes are starting a Geometry chapter. We will be finding the area of polygons and volume of rectangular prisms. The advanced math classes have started in the 7th-grade book and will be adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing positive and negative numbers. They will finish the year with the first 5 chapters of the 7th-grade book
6th Grade Reading: Mr. McMahon, Mrs. Meyers & Ms. Stumborg
In reading, we have started our second novel of the year, The Unwanteds. This will be a six-week unit. We will focus on vocabulary, comprehension, and figurative language. The book focuses on a dystopian society where all creativity is stifled. The characters fight for their individuality over an oppressive government.

The knowledge and politics of Greece and Rome directly impact how our democracy works in the United States. Students will explore the connection between these classical civilizations' histories and our own society's history.

March's Family Digital Citizenship Tips
Hello Pacific Intermediate Families,
As we celebrated the end of Trimester 2 on Friday, February 20th, we would like to congratulate all students who earned strong grades or showed improvement. We are so proud of your hard work, and we know your families are proud of you as well! For students who may be struggling, please remember - do not give up. Success comes through effort, perseverance, and a willingness to grow.
Over the past couple of months, we have been busy preparing students for next year. Our 5th graders learned about 6th grade expectations, the similarities and differences between grade levels, and available elective options. Our 6th graders learned what to expect at Riverbend. Both 5th and 6th graders had the opportunity to select electives that interest them for next year.
Last month,5th and 6th graders explored career pathways and how their interests and abilities can help guide future career choices. We focused on our district's four core values - - community, learning, integrity and perseverance - - and discussed how developing these traits supports long-term success. Learning new skills and concepts can sometimes feel challenging and frustrating. However, working together and staying persistent helps students achieve their goals.
This month, we are excited to welcome guest speakers from the Children's Advocacy Center, who will present the "Body Safety Program" to both 5th and 6th graders. This age-appropriate program teaches students important response skills designed to help prevent abuse.
- 5th Grade: The 50 - minute program will be presented on March 24th, 25th or 26th depending on your students' tribe.
- 6th Grade: The 50-minute program will be presented on March 13th.
The "Body Safety" program is recommended for all students but is voluntary. Parents may choose whether their child participates. Opt-out forms will be sent home with your child. These forms only need to be signed and returned if you DO NOT want your child to participate. Please note, that this program will take the place of one regular class period, and students will not miss any required coursework. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your child's school counselor listed below.
All families are invited to attend the district's 3rd Annual Family Resource Night at the Doris Hoffman Center on Thursday, March 12th, from 5:30-7:00pm. Join us for valuable information and family fun!
We hope you have a wonderful spring break. Enjoy this time with your family and friends!

Decisions made at the State Capitol in Jefferson City directly impact our classrooms, our educators, and—most importantly—our students. As the 2026 Missouri Legislative Session progresses, several key education bills are currently being debated that will shape the landscape of public education for years to come.
To ensure our district’s voice is heard, you are invited to join our newly formed Superintendent Advocacy Task Force on March 2, 2026 at 4:15pm at our Central Office Boardroom.
