Christie's Corner
Thank you to our families for making donations to our Staff Appreciation Week. Our staff so appreciated your kindness. We had special treats daily (popcorn, lemonade/ice tea, nacho bar, and baked goodies). With the money that was donated, we purchased gift cards and had four random drawings a day. It was a sweet surprise to those that won!
We had a great time at Open House! Ralphie even stopped by to greet families. We enjoyed having dinner with our families and showing our families their students' work.
For those of you who will be attending ESY, we'll be seeing you shortly. For those of you that are taking a break from school, we'll see you in August when you return. We are hoping to plan a get together at a park before school starts, so look for that information in early August. Have a great summer!
Graduation
We had five students who will be turning 22 this year, so it's with very mixed emotions that we say goodbye to them. We're excited to see them healthy and growing up, but sad that we will no longer get to see them on a daily basis. three students also participated in our Certificate of Promotion. It's neat to see our kiddos going through this high school milestone.
M.O.V.E. Moment
M.O.V.E. stands for Mobility Opportunities Via Education/Experience and is a San Juan sponsored activity-based program designed to teach children with severe disabilities the functional motor skills needed to sit, stand, and walk as independently as possible. We have students and staff working very hard on this every day!
Meet Abdul! Abdul has a visual impairment and as well as other challenges, but look at him GO!! He can ride an adapted tricycle as well as learning to put weight on his feet and propel a gait trainer. Abdul is full of personality and loves familiar staff and using the adapted swing. We are so proud of you Abdul!!
Extended School Year (ESY)
Emails will be sent out the beginning of June to let you know what site your child be attending for ESY. If your child will be attending Ralph Richardson Center, the hours are 8:00 - 11:00 for preschool and 8:00 - 12:00 for all others. There is no school on July 3.
