The Week Ahead
November 2, 2026
Principal's Message ๐
Finish Quarter 1 Strong!
As we head into the first week of November, we are also preparing to close out the first quarter of the school year! This is an important time to finish strong, reflect on your progress, and set yourself up for success in Quarter 2.
Students, please take time to review your grades in PowerSchool, check Google Classroom for outstanding assignments, and communicate with your teachers about any missing work. Make sure all assignments are submitted by the end of Quarter 1! Take advantage of PRIDE Intervention and opportunities for extra help if you need additional support.
As we transition into a new quarter, I encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect:
Celebrate your successes: What went well during Quarter 1? What are you most proud of?
Reflect and grow: What challenges did you face, and what can you do differently?
Set goals: Identify one or two specific goals for Quarter 2. What actions will help you achieve them?
Get organized: Clean out your backpack, organize your binders and folders, and take some time to clean up your digital workspace, including Google Drive, Google Classroom, and your files.
A fresh quarter is an opportunity for a fresh start! Remember, success isn't just about the grades you earn; it's about the effort you put forth, the habits you build, and your willingness to keep growing.
Important Reminders for the Week
Tuesday, November 3 โ Election Day: School Is OPEN!
Killingly High School will be open and in session on Election Day. Please plan to attend school as usual.
Because our school serves as a polling location, parking will be limited in the North (back) parking lot. Portions of the lot will be reserved for voters. We ask students, families, and staff to exercise extra caution, follow posted parking directions, and allow additional time for arrival and dismissal. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we support our community's participation in the election process.
Wednesday, November 4 โ FAFSA Workshop at 5:00 PM
Attention seniors and families of seniors! We encourage you to take advantage of our upcoming FAFSA Workshop on Wednesday, November 4, at 5:00 PM.
Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an important step in exploring financial aid opportunities for college and postsecondary education. Whether you are just getting started or have questions about the process, this workshop is a great opportunity to receive guidance and support.
We hope to see many of our senior families there!
Our Capturing Kids' Hearts theme for November is TEAMWORK!
At KHS, we know that great things happen when we work together, support one another, and recognize that everyone has something valuable to contribute.
Teamwork is more than simply working in a group. It means listening to others, respecting different perspectives, sharing responsibility, and encouraging those around us to do their best.
As we begin a new quarter, I challenge our students to think about how they can be better teammates in their classrooms, extracurricular activities, athletic teams, and school community.
Our challenge for November: Look for an opportunity each day to help someone else succeed. Remember, when we work together, we all grow stronger.
As we wrap up Quarter 1, I want to thank our students, faculty, staff, and families for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to making Killingly High School a place where everyone can learn, grow, and succeed.
Let's finish Quarter 1 with pride and enter Quarter 2 with renewed energy, clear goals, and a commitment to supporting one another.
Responsibility. Excellence. Dedication.
Great Things Happen Here!

Stay Connected: Parent Square
Dear KPS Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to announce that Killingly Public Schools will be transitioning this summer from SchoolMessenger to ParentSquare as our primary communication platform for families, students, and staff.
ParentSquare will provide a more streamlined and reliable way for you to stay connected with your child's school. The platform combines school announcements, notifications, messages, event reminders, and other important communications into a single, easy-to-use platform.
One of the greatest benefits of ParentSquare is its all-in-one communication experience. Families can receive and view school communications directly within the ParentSquare app, in addition to the more typical text message, phone call, or email. This gives you a centralized location to access and review messages at any time from your child's school. We're hoping this will remove a lot of the worry of missing an important call, email, or text from the district.
In addition, ParentSquare offers other helpful features such as:
- A user-friendly mobile app and web portal
Secure document delivery
The ability to communicate more directly with teachers and school staff where appropriate
Day-to-day school, classroom, and district-wide announcements viewable all in one location
- More targeted and relevant communications based on your child, school, activities, or programs
Over the coming weeks, we will share additional information about ParentSquare, including instructions on how to activate your account and download the mobile app. ParentSquare accounts will be automatically created using the contact information currently on file with the district.
We believe this new platform will strengthen communication between our schools and families and provide a more convenient and engaging experience for everyone.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we implement this exciting new communication tool.
Sincerely,
KPS Administration
