Edison Newsletter!
Dear Edison family,
We had another wonderful week at Edison! Our Fall into Learning Title 1 Night was a great success — thank you to all of the families who came out to enjoy an evening filled with fun, food, and family. It was such a joy to see our community come together in support of our students. Our teachers and PTO did a great job of putting it all together; we are very grateful for all of their effort! They did a superb job!
Our First Grade Dance was also a hit! Our students had a fantastic time showing off their moves! The also created memories that will last a lifetime. A big thank you to our teachers and volunteers who made it possible.
This week, our PTO hosted a special luncheon for staff, and we are so grateful for their continued support and dedication to our campus.
A continued thank you to our church volunteers from Valley Creek and First Presbyterian Church. We are very blessed to have their support at school and during extracurricular events. We can always count on their support! God bless them!
This month’s character lesson focuses on gratitude — a perfect reminder to appreciate the little things and the people who make a difference in our lives. Check out the attachments below to learn more about how you can reinforce this at home.
We are also kicking off Our Edison Food Drive From Nov 4th-14th — see the flyer below for details on how your family can participate.
Don’t forget to buy your Edison spirit shirt and show your school pride!
Lastly, take a moment to look at the information about our Edison Bond Expansion Project to learn about the exciting improvements coming to our campus.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support — together, we’re building a strong and caring school community!

Reoccurring reminders:
Traffic Reminder 🚗
To help keep traffic flowing safely and efficiently, please turn right when exiting the school during arrival and dismissal. This small change will help reduce congestion and ensure a smoother transition for all families. Thank you for your cooperation!
Also, when crossing the street or high traffic areas, please make sure to be crossed by a crossing guard at the cross walk, thank you.
Reading and Writing at home: We do a great deal of reading and writing at school. Parents/Guardians, if you could help us out by helping your kiddos with their home work, also reading to them, and having them write something short and age appropriate (pre-k: trace some letters, Kinder: write a few short words, 1st grade: write a short sentence), would go a long way.
Homework Reminder: I want to take this opportunity to encourage all parents to support their children with their homework. Your involvement in your child's education plays a crucial role in their academic success. By working together, we can ensure that our students are reaching their full potential.
Parental Involvement: Research consistently shows that students perform better in school when their parents are actively involved in their education. I am proud to share that our school has seen a significant increase in parental engagement over the past year. Let's keep up this positive momentum as we work together to support our children's learning journey.
Summer School Update: I must inform you that there will not be summer school offered this year for attendance recovery. Therefore, it is imperative that your student attend school on time each and every day unless they are sick. If they are sick please leave a doctors note with the front office.
School policy: Parents, we will not allow early pick up of students after 3pm, including Doctors appointments, etc...
Transportation Changes: ALL Transportation changes must be made no later that 12pm. Any changes after that time cannot be made. Thank you,
Fall into Learning!

Gifted and Talented (GT) Referral Window Now Open!
Do you know a student who demonstrates exceptional intellectual or creative problem-solving abilities? Perhaps they might benefit from services through the Gainesville ISD’s Gifted and Talented (GT) program. The GT program provides advanced, differentiated learning experiences designed to meet the unique needs of students with exceptional potential.
Gainesville ISD’s Gifted and Talented (GT) referral window for the 2025–2026 school year is now open through November 1, 2025.
Referrals may be submitted by parents, teachers, community members, or—at the secondary level—by the students themselves. The identification process includes referral, screening, assessment, and placement, with final decisions made by the Campus GT Selection Committee.
To submit a referral or learn more, visit the GT program website link or access the GT Referral Form directly.
