The Crusader Times
2025-2026 Week 1
The Crusader Times: Vol 2 Issue 12
Message from Ms. Cruz: 10/18/2026
Crusaders, we have just two weeks remaining in this marking period. Progress Report 2 grades will be finalized soon. Be sure to complete any missing work and stay on top of your assignments. Homework center continues to be available, as well as morning library hours if you need a quiet place to get work completed. We will also be hosting Saturday School on October 24 from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM. Be sure to take advantage of these opportunities for support if you need it!
Parents, it was reported that some of our students continue to find platforms online to interact and chat with strangers online. Please talk with your students about this very risky choice, whether it is on their personal or school device. The school iPads have safety features to block such usage, but unfortunately work arounds exist. Our IT department works to block sites continuously, but the danger is still there. Crusaders, if you are accessing a Proxy server on your iPad, you are misusing your device. Regardless of the purpose to do so, taking that step is a violation of the contract you signed to use the device.
Thank you to all of the Crusaders who visited our Book Fair. And thank you to Ms. Sigala and Ms. Colin for hosting. Red Ribbon Week, Halloween and our first dance are right around the corner. Quiz bowl is looking for participants and everyone is invited to Noche de Cultura Hispana on October 28. Crusaders, with all of these positive activities to engage in at BVM, I'm sure you can find something you connect with and get involved.

8th Grade Credit Checks
Counselors met with all 8th grade students to review their transcripts. Students were taught how to read their transcript and determine their progress. Students brought home their official transcript and took a picture of the document they used to determine if they were on track for promotion or not. Parents, please ask to see their document. Counselors have the original, signed by your student. The purpose of this activity was to ensure students are aware of their progress as they move through the rest of this semester and next. While some need to take advantage of any upcoming credit recovery options, many students left the presentation realizing that they have no room to fail classes. Crusaders, we are here to support you. Ask for help and attend interventions.
WishWell @ BVM
SUHSD has partnered with WishWell once again to provide families with wraparound services. Parenting teens is not easy or predictable. Each child has unique needs. Our first series will be a set of Parent Empowerment workshops held at BVM during the school day to support parents on their child's middle school journey. Each session has a different topic and will run for 5 weeks. Save the dates! 10/7-11/4 from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM in Room 201. See the flyer below for details. Thank you WishWell, for being our community partner!
Coffee with the Principal 10/22 @ 9 AM
Please join me in person or online for our monthly Coffee with the Principal Meeting. The focus of this month's meeting is on safety at school and in our community. School Resource Officer Lopez will be joining us to share some important tips on keeping our teens safe. The meeting will be in room 201 or you can join using the TEAMs link below.
