Parent Newsletter - September 25, 2025
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Young Elementary Families,
What a wonderful week it has been celebrating Homecoming! It was so much fun seeing all the amazing outfits for our spirit dress-up days.
Thursdays are always a special morning, and this week was no exception. The spirit table set up by our PTO, along with our volleyball, cheer, and football players greeting students, made the morning extra exciting for everyone.
We also want to give you an opportunity to recognize the amazing teachers at YES. Please take a moment to click the link below and fill out a YES Award. This is your chance to highlight a teacher who has made a meaningful impact on your student.
Thank you for helping us celebrate the incredible work of our staff and for supporting all the spirit at YES!
Sincerely,
Andrew Hohman
Principal, Young Elementary

Shoes That Fit Fundraiser
A message from Coach Harrison!
Help us ensure every child comes to school with confidence and comfort! Many students in our community lack properly fitting shoes, which impacts their ability to learn, play, and thrive. By supporting our Shoes That Fit Fundraiser, you’ll provide new, well-fitting shoes to children who need them most. Together, we can make sure no child is held back by something as simple as shoes.
Every dollar makes a difference—thank you for helping us change lives, one pair at a time!

Counselor's Corner
Character Trait of the Month
Coin Wars was a HUGE success!!
We were able to raise $1,511.73 for WARM (Wise Area Relief Mission) to help families in need! I am so grateful for the students, staff, and families that made this possible! Seeing our students give back to our community members really filled my heart with joy, and I know it made them feel good too!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! 💙
In Counseling Lessons This Week...
This week we will dive into identifying emotions and how essential it is to follow directions!
PreK- We will begin to identify different emotions by noticing how they feel in our bodies, as well as looking at facial clues and body language to noice feelings in others. We will read "The Color Monster" together and "spot the feeling" using facial clues with a coloring activity.
Kinder- We will discuss the importance of following directions. We will read "Lacy Walker, Nonstop Talker" then complete a fun activity where students have to make sure they are being the best listener they can be and following directions to complete a picture correctly.
1st Grade- We will discuss the importance of following directions. We will read "Ozzie and the Art Contest" where students get to see how important it is to follow directions or you might make a silly mistake and miss out on the fun!
2nd Grade- We will discuss the importance of following directions and how to ask for help if you don't understand something. We will read "I Just Want to Do It My Way" and brainstorm when, where, and how to ask for help if you need it!
