What's your sign?

Buckle up, because the August full moon isn't an ordinary one - and it has every intention of rocking the boat. The August 22nd full moon moves into the rebellious zodiac sign of Aquarius for the 2nd time this year, dubbing the lunation as the blue moon. This type of lunation is super fierce, so you can expect Aqua vibes to be extra potent during the full moon. Think extra quirky, unpredictable, & disruptive. The water bearer is going to teach us lessons in mending parts of ourselves we've gotten accustomed to avoiding in our waking lives. If you're one of the zodiac signs most affected by the August full moon, brace yourself for a disturbance in your work life & uncomfortable interruptions to your daily routine.

Agendas

  • Special Monday Council Meeting to consider agreement with Olsson to survey Century Park to determine if it is a viable solution to manage storm water for Community Center Phase II. [FUNDING: Community Center Bond] WHY? Provides two potential benefits - Minimize or eliminate need/cost for retention/detention basin on community center site; mitigate existing downstream storm water issues.
  • Planning/Zoning Study Session - Present proposals for text change to Miscellaneous subdivision, sign regulations, & permitting
  • Under development for upcoming Regular Council Meeting 9/7 - Budget review (General Fund); Consideration of 2018 Uniform Building Code, purchase of gear boxes for basins at WTP, Splash Park Rental Rates, board appointments.

To Enhance the Quality for All...

  • Celebrating Work Anniversaries this week: Police Sergeant Joe Cline - 4 years; Community Center Child Watch Attendant Payton Conyers - 2 years; Fitness Attendent Mayce Barber & Tyler Rumore - 1 year.
  • The Council established seven goals for the next five years. The 5th goal, COMPETITIVE SALARY & BENEFITS will focus attention on the need to recruit & retain quality workforce. The City like many area employers works hard to fill openings for police officers, paramedics, food service, maintenance & lifeguards. Employee salaries & benefits can consume 70 - 90% of the budget. Salaries ideally are based on what the competition is paying. The competition usually consists of neighboring local governments that recruit in the same market for the same skills & experience.
