Brief Message From the Principal

Dear Jayhawk Elementary Families,

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our families who took the time to provide thoughtful feedback through our recent survey regarding the elementary music program. Your input is greatly valued and plays an important role in helping us reflect, grow, and continue strengthening the learning experiences we provide for our students. We appreciate your partnership and support as we review the feedback and consider next steps.

In addition, our staff has begun making arrangements for our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences scheduled for March. More detailed information regarding conference scheduling will be shared with families as we get closer to the dates.

School Attendance Policy Reminder - REPEAT

As part of our continued partnership with families, we are beginning to more intentionally share information regarding our school attendance policy. Regular attendance is an important part of student success, and we appreciate the efforts families make to support consistent school attendance.

Students are allowed up to 10 excused absences per semester. To help families stay informed, the school will begin communicating with parents/guardians when a student reaches 3, 5, 7, 9, and 10 absences. These notifications will be shared through both email and mailed correspondence to ensure families receive timely information.

Once a student reaches 10 absences, any additional absences will require documentation from a medical provider in order to be approved. Please note that all absences are subject to approval by building administration, in accordance with district policy.

We understand that illnesses, family situations, and unexpected events do occur and are sometimes beyond anyone’s control. Our staff is committed to working alongside families with understanding, care, and support when these situations arise. If you have questions or concerns about attendance, we encourage you to reach out directly to our building administrator so we can partner together in supporting your child.
