What is the ASVAB?
The ASVAB is a multiple choice assessment of a student's aptitudes. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is a FREE test administered to all interested 10th-12th grade students. The ASVAB program facilitates career planning and exploration, combining a multiple-aptitude test with an interest self-assessment and wide range of career exploration tools. Students interested in the military absolutely should take this test, yet it is open to any student who simply is wanting more career guidance.
The assessment happens on a regular school day which means students will be missing instructional time. Students will be excused from class but expected to communicate with teachers about missing class PRIOR to the test and will be responsible for all make up work. Please check with your teachers prior to registering.
There are 50 seats for the December 2021 ASVAB. The spots are welcome on a first come, first serve basis. There is a waitlist available.
What can I expect on test day?
Please plan to arrive by 8:30 AM for check in at Lecture Hall C. The test starts promptly at 8:40 AM. Once the test starts, late students will not be admitted and you'll be sent to class.
You will be missing 5th & part of 6th period, please communicate with your teachers and get all your work prior to the ASVAB.
The test is a computer-administered test, please bring your laptop already charged. Once you finish a section the test will move you along to the next section. You will be sent back to class at the conclusion of your test.
Do I need study or prepare?
You do not need to study for the ASVAB Career Exploration because it's a test that measures your strengths and potential success. However, if interested, you can find sample test questions at the Official ASVAB website and Today's Military.
What's considered a passing score?
The ASVAB measures strengths and potential for future success. You don't "pass" or "fail". The results represent how well you have developed your skills in addition to your potential for training.
If I take the ASVAB, does the military automatically get my scores?
