It's all blue skies in Blue Rapids

It was a great week at Blue Rapids Elementary! Even though it was a short week with the snow days we did have some exciting activities at the building. On Monday the Valley Heights school board had their monthly meeting at the building. On Thursday the Rotary members had their meeting at the building and the 4th grade presented their entrepreneurship lesson to the Rotarians. We also had the preliminary rounds of the spelling bee. With the winter weather I want to give a shout out to Mrs. Woodyard for all her hard work in removing snow. I also appreciate Ryan Bishop for all his hard work in keeping heat going in the building and the classrooms warm.

Here are some upcoming dates to remember:

  • January 25th-Optional Dental Screenings
  • January 29th-Kansas Day
  • February 7th-Marshall County Spelling Bee

As always, I want to thank you for the blessing that it is to work with your children. My door is always open if you have any questions or concerns.

Updated Food Service Policy Updated Food Service Policy

Dear Parents/Guardians ~

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to inform you about a recently updated food service policy for our district. The decision to revisit the policy was prompted by an increase in the district's meal debt, primarily due to unpaid meal balances. The updated policy is also attached to this email. Please access the link to our website, where you can access updated information on food service: FOOD SERVICE

We believe these changes will assist both families and the school district in managing the rising meal debt. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the policy or the implemented changes, please feel free to reach out. Your feedback is important to us.

Sincerely,

Sean Spoonts

Superintendent

Value Honor Success

Each day in the elementary schools, we teach our students how to have purposeful interactions and goals. We believe that having a common purpose will promote the academic and social emotional well-being of each student. We teach students the VHS model.

To celebrate students accomplishing these things, we have created positive office referrals, with VHS tickets. Teachers and staff hand out VHS tickets when they see a student doing the right thing.
