Giving Thanks to Our GOHS Staff
We want to take a moment to recognize and appreciate the extraordinary work happening across our campus every day. Great Oak is a special place because of the passion, care, and dedication our staff bring to our students and community.
Across classrooms, staff are thoughtfully integrating technology and student iPads to make learning more engaging and meaningful. In Math, staff are implementing Building Thinking Classrooms, helping students collaborate and tackle challenging problems with confidence. Our Science staff are providing purposeful interventions to support struggling learners, ensuring every student has a path to success.
In English, staff are strengthening student writing through the Jane Schaffer Method, while Social Science staff are deepening historical thinking through increased document-based analysis and writing. Our VAPA staff inspire creativity and help students feel truly seen, valued, and heard on campus.
Meanwhile, CTE and AVID staff are preparing students for life beyond high school with relevant, real-world projects, and ROTC and WSB continue to cultivate student leaders who give back and enrich our campus community.
We are proud of the incredible things happening at Great Oak. Our staff make this a place where students grow, thrive, and belong—every single day.

#BetheOne....Who is a Pillar of SPIRIT!
Congratulations to Charles Zhang - November Student of the Month
We are excited to highlight Charles Zhang as our Student of the Month—an exemplary member of the Wolfpack who embodies the core values of SPIRIT every single day.
Charles is a dedicated scholar with a deep passion for learning. A self-described grounded, “nerdy,” and thoughtful student, he is already looking ahead to a future career in AI research. His curiosity runs deep—so much so that his favorite word is defenestration, chosen simply for its complexity and precision.
Beyond the classroom, Charles is actively involved on campus, especially through his participation in Mu Alpha Theta, Science Olympiad and Cyber Patriots, where he brings teamwork, enthusiasm, and a love for problem-solving. He shared that he feels an instant rush of excitement every time the team scores points—a true sign of his commitment and joy in being part of the group.
Charles also stands out for his integrity and kindness. He carries himself with quiet confidence, embraces who he is, and offers a simple but meaningful message for others: “Be kinder to people.”
Please join us in congratulating Charles Zhang for his outstanding contributions to Great Oak High School. We are proud to celebrate him!

PBIS: Campus Behavior Updates and Important Forms
Increase in Behavior on Campus: We Need Your Help!
We want to make our families aware that we have recently seen an increase in inappropriate behavior on campus involving “pantsing.” This behavior is completely unacceptable, violates student safety and dignity, and will result in disciplinary action. In more serious cases, it may also lead to a referral to our School Resource Officer.
Please take a moment to speak with your student about not engaging in this behavior and about the importance of reporting it immediately if they witness it happening to someone else. Together, we can help maintain a safe, respectful environment for all students.
