Senior Legacy Day: May 18, 2026
On Monday, May 18, 2026, Mayfair High School seniors took part in Senior Legacy Day by returning to the elementary schools where their educational journeys first began. It was a meaningful and joyful experience as students reconnected with former teachers, revisited cherished memories, and reflected on how far they had come. By walking the same hallways they once knew as young children, our seniors served as powerful role models, inspiring the next generation to dream big, work hard, and believe that they too can achieve great things. Senior Legacy Day was a heartfelt reminder that every accomplishment starts with a single step, and that the future is full of endless possibilities.
Unified Banquet 5.18.26
On Friday, May 15, 2026, Mayfair Middle/High School hosted its annual Unified Banquet, bringing together students from general education and special education, along with their families, for an unforgettable evening of celebration and connection. The event highlighted the true meaning of inclusion, as students shared laughter, enjoyed a meal together, and honored the friendships and experiences they built throughout the year. Several general education students delivered heartfelt speeches that powerfully expressed the importance of acceptance, empathy, and belonging, reminding everyone that our school community is strongest when every student is valued and included.
Speech by Rocky Riffenburgh
Hello!! In case you donāt know me, my name is Rocky! Unified has been one of the best experiences I have ever been lucky enough to be a part of. I say āluckyā because I didnāt even know I was walking into Unified PE at the beginning of this year. To my knowledge, it was just another year of the same old, boring PE until I was so warmly welcomed in. From there, I found my family in Unified Cheer. Joining the Unified program has given me and my peers so many opportunities to do things that are, sadly, seen as taboo. For some reason, in our society, wanting to talk to, be friends with, or just wave to special needs students is seen as extremely odd. Being able to learn how to communicate with so many different students and make so many great friends has been a life-changing experience. I was never once in my entire life taught how to communicate with a peer who uses communication devices or has an aide, and I know that if it werenāt for the Unified program, I would have never opened those doors. I am forever grateful that I got to meet so many new, kind, and loving people and to be a part of this ever-growing program.
Bellflower & Mayfair
On May 21, 2026, the Unified Programs from Mayfair Middle/High School and Bellflower Middle/High School came together for an unforgettable day of celebration, laughter, and community connection. This special gathering beautifully highlighted the true power of inclusiveness, giving students from both campuses the perfect opportunity to engage, share experiences, and build lasting friendships. Partnering with our fantastic sister school not only strengthened the bond across the district but also proved that while we might sport different team colors, we are entirely unified when it comes to lifting each other up and creating an environment where everyone belongs. It was a truly inspiring day that captured the very best spirit of collaboration and community!

Dress Code Reminders
As the weather begins to warm up, we want to remind everyone of the importance of adhering to our school dress code to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment for all. Clothing must cover undergarments at all times, and students should avoid wearing sheer, low-cut, or overly revealing attire, including excessive midriff exposure. For safety, appropriate and protective footwear is required at all times. Additionally, clothing and accessories should not disrupt the educational environment, and items such as hats, hoods, and beanies must be removed indoors. We appreciate your partnership in helping maintain a positive and focused school community by ensuring all students follow these guidelines each day.
No Recording. No Instigating. Keep Mayfair Safe.
Recording or encouraging fights creates safety risks and leads to consequences under Ed Code §48900(k). Make positive choicesāwalk away, report, and protect your school community.
Reminders
Listed below are just a few important reminders (PLEASE READ):
- Mayfair Middle/High School does not permit any drop-offs or deliveries of food or other items. Please ensure that your student is prepared for the day when coming to school in the morning with their lunch, supplies, money, etc.
- Dress Code. For the 2025-2026 school year, we are trying to prepare our students for college and career ready with a dress code. Students will not be allowed to wear any inappropriate clothing which includes the following: No sheer, low cut, revealing blouses, bare midriff, or braless outfits, bathing suits, beach attire, tight or revealing, or strapless garments. Please be sure that your student follows the dress code and wears appropriate clothing and accessories. Also, students may not bring blankets to campus. Click here to access Mayfair's Dress Code Policy.
- No returning back to campus. If a student has an early release (7th or 8th period), once the student leaves campus, they may not return to campus during school hours. Parents - please ensure that your students are going home early if they have the early release. Please review your students schedule so that you are aware when they will be leaving campus early (prior to 3:35).
School Policies
Bikes/skateboards/ scooters
Students will not be allowed to have bikes, scooters or skateboards on campus. There are designated lock areas on the north and south ends of campus for students to securely store them during the school day. Riding and even walking them through campus presents a safety concern. Students are expected to pick up their belongings at the designated areas, and exit campus. Students are also required to walk their Bike, scooter or skateboard until they are completely off campus, which includes walkways and parking lots. Our goal is to insure safety for all students, we appreciate your support in upholding these expectations at home.
For the safety of all students and staff, riding bikes, scooters, or skateboards on campus is not permitted. Once students reach the school curb, they must walk their bikes and skateboards at all times. Motorbikes are not allowed on campus. All bikes, scooters, and skateboards must be properly locked to a designated bike rack only and should not be attached to gates or left in front of the school. Items left or locked outside of campus have been stolen in the past, and the school is not responsible for lost or stolen property.
Safety is a shared responsibility, both on and around campus. Students are expected to be cautious when crossing streets, follow all traffic and crossing rules, and use designated crosswalks. We have had students hit by cars this year, which underscores how important it is to stay alert and make safe choices when arriving to and leaving school. Taking these precautions helps protect not only individual students, but our entire school community.
E-Bikes
- Mayfair expects all student to wear a helmet when operating an e-bike, bicycle, skateboard or scooter.
- These items are never to be ridden on campus, to include the parking lots, side walks, or front of school. They must be walked off of campus.
- E-Motos (no pedals) or modified e bikes are not permitted at mayfair.
- The sheriff's department may cite or impound illegal bikes brought to campus.
Parking
Please ensure you are not parked in a no parking zone or at a red curb. Emergency response vehicles need access to campus and can not be blocked. If you violate this expectation, you may be cited or towed.
Tardy Policy
Starting October 13, 2025, Mayfair will enforce a new tardy policy: any student who is tardy to three or more periods in a single week will be assigned a lunch detention the following week. Students must complete their detention to be removed from the no-go Minga list and regain the ability to attend special school events, which are considered privileges. Failure to serve a lunch detention will result in additional consequences.
Wellness Center
Mayfair Middle/High Schoolās Wellness Center is available for students who need a short break to recharge during the day. Students must first check into class at the start of the period and then have a pass or Minga pass from a teacher or counselor to visit. Wellness breaks are limited to 10ā15 minutes, and cell phones must be put away while in the center. Please remember that all health-related issues should be directed to the Health Office. Students are allowed only one pass per day unless otherwise determined.

Minga
Mayfair Middle/High School students will utilize the app called Minga as a digital ID card. The app enables staff to create hall passes, reward students for doing well and helping others, and the digital ID card will help students have an easier time entering or leaving campus. The digital ID has a "live" interface, with a running digital clock and a moving background, thus preventing students from using a screenshot [Screenshots of ID are not permitted]. Students will utilize their school email (via Google) to log in. The app is safe to use, uses very little data, and doesn't require access to any of the information stored on your phone. If your child does not have a smartphone, don't worry - they will receive a printed ID card as well. Click here to access a quick document that shows you how to log into your school's Minga account.
