Last Week to Donate Candy for Trunk or Treat!

Good Afternoon Killam Families,

Thank you for volunteering at the Book Fair this week! It was such a fun week for our students and hopefully many new amazing books are now filling your homes! A HUGE kudos to Nicole Callagy and Annie McLeod for running this fall fair!

Last call to sign up for Trunk or Treat! See links below! Please park AT KILLAM in any of the lots or along Charles St and use the pedestrian walkway behind the trailers to connect to St. A's! We look forward to seeing you!

RMHS Drama Club will be performing a few scenes for all our students on Tuesday! Be sure to ask your child how it was!

Please see notes below for next week's Fall Parade! This is always a simple, fun event for everyone!

Let's have a great week,

4th/5th Grade Math Team๐ŸŸฐโž• 4th/5th Grade Math Team๐ŸŸฐโž•

For the past nine years, Killam has had a Math Team that participated in Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMS). We are going to run the Math Team again this year for fourth and fifth graders. Here are some notes:

1. We will have Math Team immediately before school on Thursdays from 7:30-8:15 in the library.

2. When there is not a contest, we will work through a set of challenging math problems with the students. We will start by having the students work individually, then they will work in small groups, and finally we will talk about the problems in a large group. Each session will go through about 5 problems.

3. Each month there will be a contest. The contests will consist of the students working independently on 5 questions over 30 minutes. We will go through the answers at the end of the session.

4. The Math Team this year will be led by former Killam Mathletes and current RMHS students Sofia Wolfe and Owen Healy as well as adult leader Brian Healy (who has led the team each of the last nine years).

The first meeting will be November 5, and we will have meetings Thursday mornings each week when there is school until March.

If you are interested, please email Brian Healy (bchealy@partners.org).

Have a great day!

Thanks,

Brian

A Little Help Can Make a Big Difference This Holiday Season!

The Reading Adopt-A-Family Program is here to support families who may need extra assistance during the holidays. This wonderful community initiative provides Thanksgiving food baskets, Holiday/Christmas food baskets, and gifts for children ages 18 and younger.

The program is coordinated by the Reading Rotary Club and Reading Cares, with support from Reading Elder/Human Services, Reading DPW, and other community partners.

Who Can Apply?

Families who live in Reading or have children enrolled in Reading Public Schools may qualify if they meet the program's eligibility requirements, including proof of need and residency and having at least one child age 18 or younger.

All applications are handled confidentially. Families are assigned identification numbers to protect their privacy and dignity.

Want to Help a Family?

Individuals, families, businesses, community groups, and school organizations can participate by donating food baskets, purchasing gifts from children's wish lists, or making monetary contributions.

Would You Like to Donate Money Instead?

If you would love to support the Reading Adopt-A-Family Program but don't have time to shop for food or gifts this year, monetary donations are also welcome! โค๏ธ

How to Donate:

Please make your check payable to Reading Rotary and mail it to:

Adopt-A-Family Program (AAF)
