MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Dear Eagles,
We are having our Annual Alumni Career Day this Wednesday. Lindblom’s alumni have very rich roots which is shown through their level of commitment to serve. One day down the line, this will be you. So we are asking that you give your undivided attention and ask questions during their time with you.
AP Testing will occur from 5/5 - 5/16. There’s no doubt in our mind that you are ready for this because you have been doing the work that it encompasses. Please utilize this week to soak up all the gems that your teachers have been giving you. Everyone should be in class and focused. This may look like the following:
Showing up to class on time
Remaining in class for the full 50 or 100 minutes
Taking notes and annotating
Going to the writing center during lunch for tutoring
Going through feedback and making revisions
Utilizing the practice materials provided to you through AP Classroom and/or Albert IO
Onward and upward,
~Principal Banks

BE INCLUSIVE
Cell Phone Survey
Illinois is in the process of passing a bill that would effectively ban cell phones during instructional time (you can read the bill HERE). The bill has passed the State Senate and is currently in the State House Education Policy Committee. The bill does provide exceptions for students who require medical or educational accommodations that specifically require the use of cell phones.
At Lindblom, we are seeking to be proactive around developing a comprehensive cell phone policy that meets the requirements outlined in the bill. We would love your input in the creation of a policy that balances meeting the requirements of the bill, prioritization of student learning, and the needs of our students and families.
Please complete this form to help us craft a policy that works in the Nest! We will use this information -- along with information we have already gathered from staff and students -- to craft a draft policy that we will then share back out for additional rounds of feedback.
Thank you for your participation!

BE EMPOWERED
Seniors: Don’t Miss Out on Free Virtual Therapy This Summer!
Hey seniors! As the school year wraps up, we want to make sure you know about an important deadline. Thursday, May 1st is the last day to get referred to Hazel Health if you’re graduating.
Why does this matter? If you’re referred by May 1st, you’ll still have time to complete free virtual therapy sessions over the summer—even after graduation! You can join from home on your own device, and appointments are available every day from 7 AM – 7 PM CT.
Check out the flyer below and talk to your counselor/social worker ASAP if you’re interested.
This resource is open to all CPS students, and it’s here to support your mental health—whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, relationships, or just need someone to talk to.
A quick heads up about consent:
If you’re under 18, your parent or guardian needs to sign for you.
If you’re 18 or older, you can sign up on your own! Just connect with a Hazel Referrer (like a counselor or social worker) to get started.
Still in CPS next year? You can still use Hazel over the summer—no deadline for you!
Summer Employment
We’re excited to announce that the One Summer Chicago (OSC) application portal is now open at www.onesummerchicago.org!
This year, OSC is offering over 29,000 paid opportunities to youth and young adults ages 14–24 across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. The application deadline is May 30, and we encourage early submissions to maximize the chances of receiving a job offer.
Once submitted, applicants will receive:
A confirmation email with their application ID number
Bi-weekly updates including important reminders, interview notifications, and access to helpful resources
Opportunities include:
Jobs & internships for youth ages 16–24, paying $16.60/hour, with partners such as the Chicago Park District, After School Matters, and Northwestern Hospital
Chicagobility, a project-based learning experience for youth ages 14–15, featuring field trips, career exploration, and a $480 summer stipend
The 2025 One Summer Chicago program will run from Monday, June 23 to Friday, August 1.
Please help us spread the word by sharing this opportunity in your newsletters, emails, and communications. Attached are flyers in both English and Spanish to share with staff, families, and community partners.
If you have any upcoming events where you'd like OSC to table or present, please email Tamika Jones(tamika.rjones@cityofchicago.org) and Eshawn Spencer (eshawn.spencer@cityofchicago.org) to submit your request.

Building Hours
This is a friendly reminder that our building hours are from 7:00 am until 5:30 pm. We are noticing that students are wandering the buidling after school hours because they are not in programs. This sometimes leads them into unsupervised areas which is a safety concern. Students should not be in the building after 5:30 pm (with the exception of clubs and sports).
BE ENGAGED
Cheer Tryouts
High school cheerleading tryouts will be on Wednesday May 7th AND Monday May 12th. Any student interested in being part of the cheerleading team next year must attend both days.
