Panther Tales Mini
February 12, 2026
Important Note!
As we approach Valentine's Day, we want to remind everyone that candy, desserts, baked goods (store-bought or homemade), or any other edible items are not to be sold or distributed at school or on the bus unless approved in advance by school administration. According to our Student Code of Conduct, students who do not adhere to this expectation are subject to disciplinary action for violation 7A: Failure to Follow Rules, and all food items will be confiscated.
This measure is crucial for maintaining a safe environment for all students, especially in light of recent reports about harmful substances being shared among students. Please discuss these expectations and possible consequences with your student(s), as we will take this matter seriously.
You can also help protect your child by encouraging them to only eat food items that they have brought from home or those that are in their original sealed packaging.

The Mini: Top Reminders and Helpful Hints
Welcome to our Panther Tales "Mini". We will be back next week with a full-sized Panther Tales. If you did not read Last Week's Panther Tales, you can find more detailed information about these reminders by clicking HERE.
1. Spring Sports Tryouts Continue
Girls' Soccer Tryouts are underway and continue through February 19th. Track Tryouts will begin on February 18th. Track is an FCS sport and, therefore, is available only for 7th and 8th graders. Get full details HERE.
2. Community Meeting with School Board Member, Katie Gregory 2/19
Have questions or input for our FCS Board Member Katie Gregory? Ms. Gregory will be holding a Community Meeting at Ridgeview on February 19th at 9:30 am. Community meetings are an opportunity for all community members to get to know their board representative and to give board members a chance to listen to local issues and concerns.
3. AVID Applications Open Now
Applications for our AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Program are opening soon for current 6th and 7th Graders. Students who wish to apply to AVID can request a link to the application from any 6th or 7th grade teacher or see Mr. Harris in room 253.
4. SGC Candidates Needed
We need you on the School Governance Council! If you would like more information about the charter system or SGC elections, visit our school’s SGC website or the FCS Charter System Overview. Please submit an Election Declaration Form before 3/27.
5. Riverwood Presentation for Rising 9th Graders
6. Yearbook Deadline: March 30th for yearbook purchases and recognition ads.
9. Building Parent Capacity
Children can’t learn if they aren’t present in school, so attendance is a must. We can influence attendance and poor attendance can be prevented. Parents — especially in the earlier years — are best positioned to ensure children attend school and to build the expectation around attendance.
