Please Take 2 Minutes to Support Charter School Funding

Dear Families,

We are asking for your urgent support ahead of the Maryland State Board of Education (MSDE) meeting this Thursday.

MSDE is reviewing regulations that would allow school districts to withhold significantly more funding from public charter schools. This money comes directly out of classroom instruction, student services, and programs.

What we’re asking for:
Please support a single, combined cap of 8% on all district withholdings from charter schools.

Why this matters:

  • Charter schools do not receive facility funding and must pay for buildings out of operating funds.

  • Higher withholdings mean less money for students and classrooms.

  • An 8% cap creates a fair, clear statewide standard that protects schools and students.

Please act now (takes 2–3 minutes):

Your voice is critical, especially before this Thursday’s meeting.

Thank you for standing up for our students and our school community.
