Our theme for the year, Rooted in Respect, Growing in Greatness, reminds us that everything we do begins with strong relationships--among our staff, with students, and throughout our community. We believe that respect is the foundation of everything we do—respect for ourselves, for others, and for our learning. With those strong roots, our students will continue to grow in greatness, both academically and personally. Throughout the year, you’ll see this theme come alive in classrooms, assemblies, and school events. We’ll be celebrating acts of respect and highlighting the many ways our students are growing into their best selves. We invite you to join us in reinforcing this theme at home by talking with your child about what respect looks like in everyday life and celebrating their “growth moments”—big and small. Together, we can nurture strong roots and watch greatness grow!

Testing and Drills

We have had a great start to the school year! Students have gone over expectations and have been busy completing their beginning of the year assessments. Those results will be shared with families in the near future. We are so proud of how hard students have worked to do their best. We have also already practiced several drills this school year. Students have practiced a fire, a lockdown, and a tornado drill. If students are asking questions at home, please assure them these drills are just for practice.

Tickets!

At our school, we use PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) to encourage students to meet school-wide expectations. When students are showing respect, responsibility, and safe behavior, staff members can recognize them by giving them a PBIS ticket. Students collect their tickets and use them like money to purchase rewards from our PBIS Store. Rewards may include small prizes, privileges, or special opportunities that students get excited about! This system helps reinforce positive choices and creates a fun, motivating way for students to grow in responsibility. We are also working toward a school-wide goal! By September 25th, we want to earn 3,000 tickets as a school. If we reach that goal, the whole school will celebrate together with a fun activity. So far, students have been doing a fantastic job—last week alone we earned 733 tickets! We are well on our way, and we can’t wait to see what our students accomplish as they continue to encourage one another and show our school values each day.
