Call outs by parents at PHS

If your student leaves school or is gone for an appointment - they must return with a doctor note to have an excused appointment absence. Otherwise, it is a 'parent callout' attendance record.

You can also send all attendance and/or notes to one of the following:

  • Email: attendancephs@piperschools.us
  • Fax Number: (913) 721-3867

*Students get 10 'parent call outs' per year.

The PHS attendance voicemail system also has a delay upwards of 1 hour until we receive your voicemail at times depending on call volume. Please give the office enough time to call your student out of class.

For the 26-27 school year, we have reorganized both the administrative and counseling responsibilities at PHS. Both our administrators and counselors now serve a specific grade level, and I want to provide some reminders to parents and guardians on whom to contact for questions, concerns, and support for your student.

  • Grade 9 – Mr. Brenden Olesen, asst. principal; Mr. Eugene Miles, counselor

  • Grades 10 & 11 – Mr. Robert Cave, asst. Principal; Mrs. Anne Holt, counselor

  • Grade 12 – Dr. Justin Bogart, principal; Mrs. Elisa Dorian, counselor.

Additionally, I have included a link to our PHS Communication Matrix that you can reference in seeking answers and supports for your student: PHS Communication Matrix.

If you have medical information and updates for your student, please send those by email to Nurse Laura Arenas, laura.arenas@piperschools.us.

For your student’s attendance needs, you have two options:

  • Option 1 - You can call the school directly at 913.721.2100, then press 1 to leave a voicemail to report changes to your child's attendance.

  • Option 2 - You can send an email to attendancephs@piperschools.us to report changes to your child's attendance.

Homecoming is next week! We encourage your student to participate in the spirit days by wearing a school-appropriate outfit for each day’s theme:

  • Monday - Adam Sandler

  • Tuesday - Heroes v. Villains

  • Wednesday - Polka Dots v. Stripes

  • Thursday - College Gear v. Career

  • Friday - Class Colors -- 9 (Green), 10 (White), 11 (Blue), 12 (Pink), Staff (Purple).

Finally, students must be academically eligible to purchase dance tickets and to attend the dance on Saturday night. Please encourage your student to take advantage of the time remaining this week to raise their grades if needed.

In Piper Pride,

Dr. Bogart

Crew Mate of the Week -- Matt Storrer

Mr. Storrer was nominated by multiple students for helping them with "super stressful homework" and "helping me improve in my physical education class." Additionally, Mr. Storrer is always ready to assist his team in the PE department, and Mr. Storrer has taken on additional courses this year in support of the building's academic goals. We are lucky to have Mr. Storrer on The Ship!
