Program Updates Program Updates

Enhanced Student Support Services and Wellness Coordination

BVA continues to strengthen the support systems available to students enrolled through partner districts. Recent staffing additions include a dedicated K-5 student support liaison, expanded advisor coverage for grades 11-12, and a student support services coordinator. These enhancements increase BVA's capacity to proactively monitor attendance, student engagement, and wellness concerns while maintaining consistent communication with district contacts. For partner districts, these additional supports provide another layer of intervention and coordination to help students remain connected, engaged, and on track for success.

Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Enhancements

Following a comprehensive MTSS review conducted in partnership with CCIU’s Learning and Leadership Solutions division, BVA is implementing several enhancements, including expanded universal screening in grades K-8, strengthened progress monitoring practices, data-informed intervention planning, and more consistent support structures across grade levels. These improvements help ensure students receive timely interventions and targeted support to promote academic success. For partner districts, a strengthened MTSS framework provides greater visibility into student progress and confidence that enrolled students are receiving evidence-based academic and behavioral supports aligned with best practices.

Student Highlights Student Highlights

Dual Enrollment Opportunity with Northampton Community College (NCC)

BVA is expanding college and career pathways through a new dual enrollment partnership with Northampton Community College. This fall, students can earn free, transferable college credits through two four-credit courses: Introduction to Communication and College Success and Introduction to Nutrition and Healthcare Careers. These courses integrate BVA instructional support with college-level expectations and content to help students build confidence and readiness for postsecondary learning.

Career Exploration Partnership with Automotive Training Center

As part of the new speaker series, BVA has partnered with the Automotive Training Center (ATC) in Exton to introduce students to career opportunities in the transportation and automotive sectors. This partnership provides students with increased awareness of skilled trades pathways and supports informed postsecondary planning. Partner districts benefit from expanded career exploration resources that may not otherwise be available to virtual learners, helping students make informed decisions about workforce and technical education opportunities.

Expanded Elementary Learning Opportunities

Elementary students will benefit from increased live instructional opportunities and the addition of a dedicated virtual music program featuring music appreciation, music theory, and digital music production. These enhancements are designed to strengthen engagement, foster creativity, and provide a more comprehensive online learning experience for younger learners. For districts, increased live instruction and enrichment opportunities support student participation, relationship-building, and overall satisfaction with the virtual learning experience.

Celebrations Celebrations

Brandywine Virtual Academy Team Prepares for a Successful Year of Student Learning

The BVA team has spent the past several weeks diligently preparing for a seamless launch to the new academic year. Over the last week, our teachers engaged in team-building activities, reviewed critical schedules and administrative protocols, and completed training with representatives from our new web-based Learning Management System (LMS), Canvas. This professional development focused on leveraging digital tools, optimizing communication strategies, and setting consistent, schoolwide expectations.

Additionally, teachers received training on customized tools designed to streamline their workflows within the learning management system. Staff spent the remainder of the week establishing their digital learning environments, finalizing beginning-of-year logistics, working on their online courses, and collaborating closely with their teams. Fully equipped and energized, we are excited to launch the school year and look forward to witnessing the immense growth and joy our students will experience in the months ahead.
