Reflection...

We made it through another cold week and while the groundhog recently made his prediction of six more weeks of winter, we are hoping his prediction is incorrect. Despite the weather, we hope you have a great Super Bowl Sunday🏈!

This week, we proudly celebrated National School Counseling Week. We are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated counseling team, including Mr. Sweeney, Mrs. Pontidis, and our Student Assistance Counselor, Mrs. Lafoon. Their commitment to student advocacy and well-being is a vital asset to our school. We thank them for the support they provided our students every day.

Wednesday was National Women in Sports Day. We thank all the female athletes at CGHS who demonstrate leadership, discipline, and excellence on and off the field. We are so proud of the way these young women represent our school community through their hard work and determination. Special SHOUT OUT to Caitlin O'Connor for being named the Cedar Grove Athletics National Girls and Women in Sports Award recipient.

As a reminder, the Cedar Grove School District will be closed on Monday, February 16, and Tuesday, February 17, in observance of President's' Day.

This month, we asked our teachers to nominate a student who is unique, demonstrates individual strength, and shows a clear connection between their current work and their future visions.

Xavier Andjuar consistently leads by example, setting a positive tone for his peers and maintaining a reputation for always doing the right thing. His excellence extends to the athletic arena, where he shines on both the football field and the baseball diamond. As a standout pitcher, Xavier reached an impressive milestone this past year, eclipsing the 100-career-strikeout mark during his junior season. He intends to continue his baseball career at the collegiate level following graduation.

Congratulations, Xavier, on this well-deserved honor!

Attention Seniors...

The Multicultural Club hosted a trivia game during lunch this week. It was wonderful to see so many students participate, and the competitive energy throughout the game was truly awesome to witness.

The CGHS Robotics Team had quite a week. On Saturday, all three teams (A, B, and C) traveled down to Franklin High School in Somerset, NJ to take part in their robotics tournament. All three teams experienced tremendous success at the event, with teams B and C advancing to the elimination round. Ultimately Team B was crowned Tournament Champions as well as Skill Award winners. The Team's Skill Score now ranks them 12th in the world!

In addition to their recent win, CGHS Robotics Team B was also recognized with an official Proclamation by the Cedar Grove Township Council during their meeting on Monday night. We thank our amazing Township Council, and the entire Cedar Grove community, for all their encouragement.

All three teams are busy gearing up for the final two tournaments of the season. The teams would like to send a special thank you to the Cedar Grove Board of Education, Dr. Turnamian, Mrs. Inglis, and Mr. Gogerty. None of this would have been possible without their incredible support!

Final Call: Senior Recognition Pages

ATTENTION SENIOR FAMILIES: This is the absolute last call to submit Senior Recognition Pages for the 2026 CGHS Yearbook. We want to ensure every graduate is celebrated, but our printing deadlines are final.

Don't miss this final opportunity to commemorate your senior’s journey with personal photos and a special message. Once the portal closes, we cannot reopen it for late submissions.
