Westmoor Weekly 10/31/2025
October 31, 2025
A Note from Principal Eck
Dear Westmoor Families,
As we wrap up the week, our school community enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors for our annual Halloween parade! Students proudly showcased their creative costumes, and it was such a joy to see the excitement and school spirit shining throughout the day. It was truly a festive way to close out October. Tomorrow we welcome November—and don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour this weekend as we “fall back” for daylight saving time!
November also invites us to reflect on gratitude. Throughout the month, our students will focus on this important character trait—gratitude—which means being thankful for the people, things, and moments that bring joy. It’s about noticing the good around us and expressing appreciation for it. We hope this theme carries over into your homes and sparks meaningful dinner conversations about what each of us is grateful for.
Lastly, you should have received your child’s MAP results via email last Friday. The IAR results for students currently in 4th and 5th grade will be emailed on November 7th.
On another exciting note, did you know that Westmoor was ranked #8 among Illinois public elementary schools by U.S. News & World Report? We are incredibly proud of our students, staff, and families—thank you for being such an important part of our community. It truly takes a village to nurture a love of learning!
Have a wonderful weekend.

Don't forget we set our clocks back this weekend!
Halloween Candy Donation to the Troops!
Again this year second grade will be collecting your leftover Halloween candy to donate to service women and men through Operation Support Our Troops–America.
Please bring your unwanted Halloween candy in a Ziploc bag or original packaging to the boxes outside the second grade classrooms. Second grade students will pick up the candy and prepare it for donating.
We will collect candy until Thursday, November 6.
Thanks so much for helping us show our gratitude to the heroes who protect our country!
Family Math Monthly
Share a picture with us!
We’re excited to showcase the special moments and achievements of our students and their families. Whether it’s a holiday, cultural tradition, a child’s milestone like riding a bike without training wheels, a big win at a soccer game, welcoming a new pet, or anything else that makes you proud — we’d love to feature it! Here is the link to share a photo and brief description.
