Dear DES Families,

This Wednesday we open our doors to our K-5 Dolphins! We are so excited to be back and are ready to ROCK the 24-25 school year. Please continue to read on for the most recent updates and information related to CCPS and DES back to school information.

Kind regards,

Dr. Crebs-Oberdorf

Important Reminders

The first day can be confusing and scary, but at DES we prepare for additional staff members to be throughout the building to help students reach their classrooms and have a safe return.

Arrival:

Students enter the car-rider, bus-rider or walker doors depending on how they come to school. Parents can say their goodbyes and we will get them to class safely.

Please DO NOT drive through our bus lane to drop off or pick up students, this creates a safety issue for our bus drivers and students.

Dismissal:

Please be sure to make any dismissal changes by 12:00 pm so we have time to get the information to the teacher/students. Car-riders and walkers are dismissed by number and you must have the number for your child to be dismissed to you. Bus-riders are dismissed as buses arrive. The first week of school buses will take longer to deliver your child home, as our dismissal is a bit slower at first. Please be patient as we work to ensure safety for everyone at DES.

Transportation

If you have any questions or concerns related to transportation, please contact Mrs. Amy Barnes our Transportation Secretary. She can provide assistance with all things related to car-rider, walker or bus rider information at DES. The school office is open from 8:30-4:00 pm each day.

DES Title I

DES is a Title I School receiving federal funds to improve instruction in math and reading.

Parents of students attending Title 1 schools may request information about the professional qualifications of their child's teachers. Parents of elementary students may request in writing to the school principal information about their child's teacher including:

* Any college or university degree or certification held.

* The subject area of the teacher's degree or certification.

* Whether the teacher is certified by the State of Maryland to teach a grade level or subject area.

* Whether the child is served by paraprofessionals and, if so, parents may request their professional qualifications.

All DES dismissal changes must be made by 12:00pm each day. This allows time to ensure that the teacher, student, and dismissal staff are all aware of the changes.
