This is Noel Keener, the proud principal of Ragsdale High, with this week's updates.

This week, many of our students received Honor Roll Certificates. Congratulations to all of our hard working students! There are 2 weeks until Winter Break. When we return, there is less than 2 weeks before final exams. Please continue to check your child's grades and attendance and do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

We are proud to announce that our Flag Football Team played in the semi-finals this weekend! While they did not win, we could not be prouder of their sportsmanship and athleticism. We are also so thankful for the amazing crowd that SHOWED UP on such a chilly day to cheer our team on!

Sports continue this week with Basketball, Swimming and Wrestling. We also have several Arts performances over the next couple of weeks. Dance will perform Thursday and Friday of this week at 7pm in our auditorium.

Congratulations to our STUDENTS OF THE WEEK: David Deans and Adam Sultan.

David was nominated by Ms. Crane, stating that “David is always trying his best and striving to learn more. Even when other students are content to settle, he always works hard to attain the most from his class.”

Adam was nominated by Mr. Phillips, saying “excellent participation and effort. Significant improvement in math.”

Ragsdale Flag Football went through to the semi-finals this weekend. We are so proud of their season!

The Ragsdale Carolers were unbelievable Friday night at the Festival of Lights!

Ragsdale Band and ROTC represented us so well this weekend (ROTC photos forthcoming)!

Our Cheer Squad got their Uh-Mazing pictures taken!

Out teachers are TEACHING- providing students with multiple opportunities to learn and understanding what they know and do not know. We are proud of their hard work and the hard work of our students!

Final exams for fall semester will begin January 15th. Final exams are worth 20% of the final grade.

All students will report to school for normal school hours on January 15 and January 16. On these days, there will be no early check out as students will either be taking final exams or reviewing for their state-based final exams.

State-based final exams will take place on January 17 (1st block), January 21 (2nd block), January 22 (3rd block), and January 23 (4th block). During state-based final exams, students will only report to school on the day they have an exam.

If a student misses an exam, they should contact their teacher to discuss a make-up.

The next EL Family Representative meeting will be held at Allen Jay Elementary School on December 12 from 8:30-10:00 am. Breakfast will be provided. Please see this flyer for more information.

Also on December 12, Guilford Parent Academy will be available from 12-1pm or 6-7pm to support parents completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA). Click here to register.

Ragsdale PTSA is looking for active members! PTSA Meetings are the first Monday of each month at 5:45 in the media center, right before our Athletic Booster Club Meeting.

The Guilford County Public Health Department has issued the notice below for updated COVID-19 isolation recommendations per CDC recommendations. Most specific to GCS is that the isolation period for those who get sick has been reduced to isolating at home away from others until 24 hours after symptoms improve and fever subsides without medication. After isolation, the individual should continue with enhanced prevention strategies for the next five days, such as wearing masks, maintaining distance, and improving hygiene and air quality.

The new Parent Portal Access Request form is now live. Parents/Guardians will use the form to request access to the PowerSchool Parent Portal, request assistance with creating an account, or have their password reset. Look for the form on GCS Media Brief, Guilford Parent Academy’s website, or Ragsdale's website under the Parent tab.
