Dear Lincoln Middle School Families,

I am so excited to welcome Fall (Autumn) in just a few days! We are moving along nicely in the halls of LMS, and I am continuing to see our Lincoln community come together.

We have begun rolling out parts of our positive behavior (PBIS) system, with staff beginning to recognize students by issuing Lincolns to students who are demonstrating what it means to be Safe, Respectful, and Responsible. I am excited to see this become a meaningful part of our school culture and how we recognize students for making positive choices. Our first-ever all-school Pep Rally took place on Wednesday, and the excitement and energy were amazing! We definitely have some things to work on when it comes to the ins and outs of attending and organizing a Pep Rally before our next one, but overall, it was a great first experience for our school community. A special thank you to our students and staff who helped make it such a memorable experience.

Moving forward, I will also begin having regular hallway meetings with students. These meetings will give us an opportunity to reinforce our community values, talk about expectations, celebrate successes, and continue building our school community together.

Congratulations to all of the students who ran for and/or won a Student Council position! It takes a great deal of bravery, commitment, and willingness to put yourself out there to run for a leadership position. I am proud of all of our students who stepped forward, and I hope our families are proud of them as well. Please see below for important information about drop-off and pick-up procedures, our new after-school program, the PS3 fundraiser, our wonderful Counselors Chronicles, Girls Group information, and more. As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support.

*Safety Reminder: Drop-Off & Pick-Up:

Students should not be dropped off or picked up in any of our middle school parking lots or in the bus loops. These areas are designated for school transportation and specific student needs. A small number of families have been pre-approved to use these areas due to the specific needs of their children and have arrangements in place with designated staff.

Using the parking lots or bus loop for regular parent drop-off or pick-up creates a significant safety concern for students and staff. Please use the designated parent drop-off and pick-up area along the sidewalk in front of the main entrance. Thank you for helping us keep our students and staff safe!

💙 Family Engagement Tip of the Week 💙 Family Engagement Tip of the Week

Be your student’s partner, not just their advocate.

Middle school students are becoming more independent, but they still need the adults in their lives working together to support their success. One of the most powerful things families can do is build a strong partnership with the school, especially when challenges arise.

Try:

  • Encourage your student to communicate directly with their teachers and other school staff.
  • Ask questions before making assumptions about a situation.
  • Reach out to the school when you need clarification or support.
  • Help your student take responsibility for their choices and actions.
  • Work with us to identify solutions when your student is struggling.
  • Remind your student that school and home are on the same team.

The goal isn't for parents to step back or for schools to handle everything. Our students benefit most when the adults around them communicate, collaborate, and work together toward the same goal: helping them learn, grow, and succeed.

This week's reminder: Your partnership matters. When families and schools work together, students know they have a team behind them. 💙

Unexpected School Visits Unexpected School Visits

A Quick Reminder for Families:

We ask that parents and guardians please limit unexpected visits to the school during the school day unless there is an emergency or a specific need that requires you to come into the building. This helps us maintain a safe and secure environment and allows our teachers and students to remain focused on learning.

Of course, families should come to school when necessary, including for an emergency, a scheduled meeting or conference, an early student dismissal, picking up a student who has been called home, dropping off an essential item that cannot reasonably wait until after school, or addressing another urgent matter with the school. When possible, please contact the main office ahead of time so we can assist you efficiently. We appreciate your understanding and partnership as we work to keep our school safe, orderly, and focused on student learning.

There is a lot happening at Lincoln, and I am grateful for the energy, effort, and enthusiasm our students and staff bring each day. Thank you to our families for your continued partnership and support. Together, we are building a school community where students feel supported, challenged, connected, and proud to be part of Lincoln. Let's have a great week!

Parent Drop Off: Arrival and Departure Parent Drop Off: Arrival and Departure

  • Parent/Guardian drop off is along the sidewalk. Students can be dropped off along the sidewalk, on the passenger side at any point and you do not have to wait until you are directly in front of the main doors as there is a second lane in which you can merge and pull off. Please do not drop off students in the Staff parking at any point.
  • Please ask students to be ready to exit the vehicle with backpack in hand and seatbelt off, this just makes the process move a lot faster.
  • PLEASE continue to PULL FORWARD if your student is not exiting the vehicle.
  • Students can enter the main doors at 8:05 am.
  • Students from the busses can enter the building at 8:05 am
  • Students are expected to be picked up no later than 15 minutes after school is dismissed.
  • Students after dismissal can be picked up outside the front of the building.
  • If a student plans to attend a sporting event after school, they need to leave and return with their guardian for the event. Students are required to have an adult present with them at all times.

PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE BUS LOOPS, VISITOR PARKING, OR STAFF PARKING IN THE AFTERNOON... YOU WILL BE BLOCKED IN BY BUSSES.

Lincoln Middle School is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all of our students and staff. We have members of our school community with severe, life-threatening allergies, and even a small amount of exposure to certain allergens can cause a serious reaction, including difficulty breathing and other medical emergencies.

Please help us keep Lincoln safe by following these important guidelines:

  • Lincoln is a nut-free school. Please do not bring products containing peanuts, tree nuts, or other nut ingredients into the building.
  • Please be mindful of sesame and other potential allergens when bringing food into the school.
  • Please do not bring spray fragrances into the building, including spray perfume, body spray, or spray deodorant. These products can trigger serious reactions for individuals with sensitivities or respiratory concerns.

For some members of our community, avoiding these allergens is not simply a preference or precaution. It is a matter of safety and, in some cases, life and death.

We appreciate your understanding, care, and cooperation as we work together to create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone at Lincoln. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe!
