Roosevelt Report
May 17, 2026
Principal Points
Dear Roosevelt Families,
The countdown is on! It’s hard to believe we are already in the final weeks of the school year, with our last day of school quickly approaching on June 4. This time of year always brings so much excitement, energy, and celebration as we reflect on all the growth our students have made together.
We have a full lineup of field trips, end-of-year activities, learning celebrations, and special events coming up over the next few weeks. Please be sure to take a close look at the calendar below and any communication from your child’s teacher so you do not miss any important dates and events.
I am incredibly proud of our Tigers for wrapping up their i-Ready testing this week. Their growth, perseverance, and hard work throughout the year have been amazing to watch. From academic gains to social-emotional growth, our students have so much to celebrate. We hope they carry this momentum into the summer by continuing to read, practice skills, stay curious, and keep their learning stamina strong.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support. These final weeks are some of the most memorable of the year, and we are looking forward to finishing the school year strong together!
With Tiger Pride,
Mrs. Samouelian

FIELD DAY IS ALMOST HERE!
June 1st - Volunteers Needed
On Monday, June 1, 2026 Roosevelt Elementary School will have our annual Field Day. It is an outdoor activity day, so please make sure that your child is wearing gym shoes with laces or velcro fasteners and comfortable clothing that will permit lots of activity. Students will have the opportunity to visit six stations for one hour. First, Second and Third grade will be in the morning. Cub Crew, Young 5's, Kindergarten and Fourth Grade will be in the afternoon. Specific times are listed on the Sign-Up Genius. Included are links to sign-up to help run a station and fill out an IChat. All volunteers must have an IChat on file. The Livonia Fire Department will be on site at the end of Field Day to spray students, so please send a towel with your child to dry off. Treats are provided by Culver's and Dr. Jane of Big Smile Orthodontics.
2nd Annual Bubble Run Event
We did it! Roosevelt Tigers completed enough miles to make it all the way to Hollywood! To celebrate this amazing accomplishment, we are excited to host our 2nd Annual Bubble Run on Wednesday, May 20th from 1:45–3:30 p.m.
All students who qualified are invited to participate in this fun event! Students will receive a pair of sunglasses and enjoy a Kona Ice treat after the run.
We are looking for volunteers to help make this event a success. If you are interested in helping, please sign up using the link below.
Grade level leaders will guide students to the Bubble Run area. Students will run for approximately 15 minutes before heading to the Kona Ice truck with their group. After enjoying their treat outside, students will return to class together.
Bubble fillers will help maintain the bubble machines and blow bubbles while students run around the track.
Disclaimer: This is a student only event during the school day. Unfortunately, we can not support spectators at this time. We can only accept volunteers. Please sign up using the sign up genius to volunteer. An i-chat must be completed prior to the event.
We appreciate your support in helping make this a fun and memorable event for our Roosevelt Tigers!

Please help your child return any overdue books to school. If unable to locate books, please replace with a new, exact copy or pay the cost of the book indicated on the overdue notice.
Any questions, feel free to contact Mr. Pinta at cpinta@livoniapublicschools.org
Disney movies are a great way to teach the character trait of reflection because students naturally connect to the characters, emotions, choices, and lessons. Reflection helps children think about their actions, feelings, growth, and decisions. Using familiar movies makes those conversations meaningful and engaging.
Here are some simple and effective ways to teach reflection through Disney movies in an elementary setting:
What Is Reflection? (Kid-Friendly Definition)
“Reflection means stopping to think about what happened, how we felt, what we learned, and what we might do differently next time.”
You can compare reflection to:
- Looking into a mirror for your thoughts
- Replaying a moment in your mind
- Learning from experiences
