Back to School 2024

CarringtonElementary SchoolBack to School 2024

It’s time to prepare for back to school! I hope you had a wonderful summer!

We are excited to have some new teachers joining us! Miss Johnson & Miss Mehring will be teaching 4th grade. Mrs. Hayleigh LaBelle will be teaching PreK. Not new to us, but in new roles, will be Mrs. Hewitt in Phy Ed, Mrs. VanRay in 3rd grade, and Mrs. Klocke in 1st grade.

Below are a couple of important things I would like to highlight to help prepare for a successful school year:

-When picking up students from school at the end of the day, we encourage you to use the old bus lane on the east side of the pick-up/drop off loop. Any time you are using the loop, you CANNOT leave your car unattended. Please share this information with other family members and friends who help with pick-up and drop off responsibilities! Thank you for your cooperation!

-You should receive in the mail a copy of the demographics we have on file for your child (K-6), along with a letter from your child’s teacher. The “Student Number” is needed to use electronic funds for your student via efunds. If you have any changes or additions to this information, please indicate those on the sheet and return it to the registration table during Ice Cream Social or to the school office when possible. It is especially important to have the correct phones numbers, including cell phone and emergency contacts, and storm homes listed (rural families only).

-Please consider using efunds to pay for student fees. Using efunds will save time and hassle during Ice Cream Social by minimizing the need to wait in line. The efunds link can be found in this newsletter or on our homepage under Menu, Quick Links. You will need the student number listed on the student demographics page that you will receive in the mail. TIP: Pay using your bank account routing number rather than your credit card to minimize the convenience fee!

Ice Cream Social

Our annual Ice Cream Social will take place on Wednesday, August 14th, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Parents and students are invited to come to school to meet teachers, find classrooms, unpack supplies, pay fees, and have ice cream! Please enter through doors 1 or 7, and check in at the registration table. If you are choosing not to utilize efunds, please come with your FEE FORM and separate checks already prepared to minimize Ice Cream Social lines. In the East Gym you will pay fees and seek out other information such as T.E.A.M. and yearbook. Ice Cream will be served in the East Commons!

The first day of school is Tuesday, August 20th. School officially starts at 8:30 a.m. and is dismissed at 3:15 p.m. Daily before school supervision is available beginning at 7:35 a.m. in the commons area. On the first day, and throughout the year, any students arriving before 8:00 a.m. should report directly to the commons area before accessing their locker. At 8:00, K-6 students present but not eating breakfast, will have outside recess until 8:15, when students may enter their classrooms. You will be able to enter through Door 1 at 3:10 for pick-up. Parents will be allowed into our hallways at 3:13, and dismissal for students is at 3:15.

Each year the student handbook is updated with the most current policies and procedures. Please take time to review the handbook with your children each year.
