Comet Express
October 2nd
Happy Friday, Cedar Creek! 💜💚
It was another great week here at Cedar Creek! I loved being able to watch and celebrate all of our Comet Award winners at our assembly today. Those were some proud and happy kiddos! Our kindergarteners also went on a walking field trip to the Fire Station and had a blast!
This coming week is a busy one here at Cedar Creek: we've got the Book Fair and Grandparent's Lunch, no school on Friday along with the Donut Drive through that day. Also, if you haven't signed up for a conference yet for your child(ren), please make sure to do so. This is a great opportunity to touch base on how your child is doing both academically and socially in school.
Don't forget to continue supporting your kiddos at home with daily reading, practicing for spelling tests, and working on fact fluency! Your support goes a long way in helping our students grow!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Jared Coones Pumpkin Run
Support the Jared Coones Memorial Pumpkin Run—and take care of dinner, too!
For 28 years, the Olathe community has come together for the Jared Coones Memorial Pumpkin Run, created in memory of Black Bob Elementary student Jared Coones, who lost his battle with leukemia at just 10 years old. What began as a way to remember one very special child has grown into an Olathe tradition that has raised more than $1 million to support organizations serving children and families affected by cancer and other serious illnesses.
This year’s run will be held Saturday, October 10, at Black Bob Elementary, but you don’t have to run or walk to be part of its impact!
On Monday, October 5, Minsky’s Pizza at 15983 S. Bradley Drive in Olathe will donate up to 20% of your purchase to the Jared Coones Memorial Pumpkin Run. Dine in, pick up, order curbside or delivery, or order online using code JCSOD. Be sure to mention your organization so your purchase receives credit toward the donation. See the attached flyer for complete details. Pumpkin Run
Enjoy some pizza, skip cooking for the night, and help support a wonderful Olathe tradition!
⭐ STAR Store Donations Needed! ⭐
Our STAR Store is a BIG hit with our Comets, and we are currently in need of donations to keep our shelves stocked! Our students are especially loving squishy fidgets, stuffed animals, and candy right now.
If you’re able to donate, you can shop directly from our Amazon Wish List or send in any kid-friendly prizes you think our Comets would love. Every donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated and helps keep the STAR Store going!
Olathe Parents as Teachers is a free early childhood program dedicated to supporting families with children from prenatal stages through age 3. Through home visits each month, developmental screenings, parent and child social activities, and family resources, Parents as Teachers helps parents support their child’s learning, growth, and development during these important early years. Whether you're a first-time parent or have experience raising children, the program offers valuable information, encouragement, and resources tailored to your family's needs. To learn more about Olathe Parents as Teachers or to enroll, visit the district website or contact the Parents as Teachers office at 913-780-8106.

Stock the Lounge was such a success last year and much appreciated by our teachers and staff. Having quick grab-and-go snacks or drinks available during their busy days was a big hit. So we are excited to Stock the Lounge again this month!
We would love your help filling the lounge with some of their favorite snacks, drinks and treats. Please bring any donated items to the CCE office on or before Monday October 26, 2026.
Thank you in advance for helping us to spoil our amazing CCE staff. We appreciate you helping to make stock the lounge a success!
