Class of 2026 College Trip
We recently returned from an exciting college tour in the Boston area, where we took students from our junior class to experience life at some of the nation’s top universities. We visited seven institutions, including Harvard, MIT, Mount Holyoke College, Amherst College, Smith College, Springfield College, and Boston University.
This incredible opportunity was made possible through our partnership with the Young Women’s Preparatory Network (YWPN), which fully funded the trip. To participate, students had to maintain good academic standing, commit to registering at YWA their senior year, and attempt all required standardized tests, including STAAR/EOC, AP exams, TSIA2, SAT/PSAT, and ACT. Additionally, students pledged to apply to at least ten colleges, complete scholarship applications, build strong resumes, log service hours, and write personal essays—all essential components of a competitive college application.
This trip was an enriching experience for both students and staff, offering valuable insight into college programs, student culture, and campus life. We are proud to help prepare our students for their future educational journeys!
Our Count Down Begins...
Let's work together to finish the semester on a high note! Several important assessments are approaching, including STAAR and End-of-Course Exams—please refer to our academic calendar for dates. Following these, students will participate in Advanced Placement (AP) testing. Scoring a 3 or higher on AP exams can earn students valuable college credit!
Next week, students will also take the SAT and TSIA2—critical exams that set the foundation for college admissions and scholarship opportunities. Please ensure that Juniors and Seniors get a full night’s rest and continue practicing their math and reading skills using Khan Academy. SAT scores from junior year establish a baseline that colleges review during the application process. Additionally, students should focus on maintaining a strong GPA and refining their resumes to maximize their college prospects.
