Dear Reidy Creek Families,
We had a fantastic first week back from Thanksgiving! Our campus was buzzing with excited conversations as students shared stories about how they spent their holiday vacation. Classrooms are already decorated for winter, and we've kicked off a variety of activities to get ready for the festive season.
This week, I attended the Escondido Education Foundation Innovation Grant Awards. The Escondido Education Foundation is a community-driven fundraising organization that provides funding for programs that empower teachers, inspire learning, and promote innovation and academic excellence in EUSD. This year, Reidy Creek received funding for six grant applications, including new playground equipment for TK and K students, robots for Kindergarten students, standing desks for fourth graders, sensory materials to help TK–5th grade students regulate their emotions, and heart rate monitors to be used during PE. These grants take a considerable amount of time and effort, and I appreciate all the hard work and dedication that went into them.
We have many fun events planned over the next two weeks, so please be sure to read all information sent by your child's classroom teacher carefully. Next week, our third graders will visit Elfin Forest for a hands-on science field trip. On Friday, our second graders will participate in one of Reidy Creek's long-standing traditions, “Polar Express Day.” During the day, students will enjoy hot cocoa and popcorn while watching the Polar Express movie. The MPR will be beautifully decorated with lights and fake snow to create the perfect winter setting!
On Friday, December 19th, we will have a Holiday Sing-Along. Parents are welcome to join in on the festivities! As a reminder, Friday is a minimum day and school ends at 12:20 p.m.
