From the Superintendent

Dear Naperville 203 Community,

I am writing to provide an update on the school district’s ongoing negotiations with the Naperville Unit Education Association (NUEA), the local teachers’ union. While discussions continue to progress in mediation, we have learned that the union has initiated the “posting” process, allowing it to meet the timelines necessary to potentially disrupt the first day of student attendance.

Although we are disappointed by the NUEA leadership’s decision to commence the posting process at a point where posting is neither required nor necessary, we are focused on achieving a mutually acceptable agreement as quickly as possible. Overall, we have been encouraged by the progress that has been made in mediation. We also know that the majority of our educators do not wish to disrupt the start of school.

We are also committed to maintaining competitive compensation for our outstanding teachers while ensuring the district’s long-term financial stability and fulfilling our obligation to District taxpayers. We are deeply grateful for the dedication and exceptional work of our teachers, and we recognize the vital role they play in the success and well-being of our students.

We will continue to keep our community informed as the negotiations move forward. In the meantime, thank you for your continued support of Naperville 203 and our shared commitment to excellence in education.
