Jag WireWeek 7: September 21st-25th

A Message from the Principal

It was another busy and exciting week at Sartartia! We officially wrapped up BOY MAP Testing and are excited to share student results with you soon. We can’t wait to celebrate our students’ growth and use this information to make sure every Jag gets the support they need to keep learning and growing.

We also wrapped up Progress Report #2 and are officially in the home stretch of Term 1 and getting closer and closer to Fall Break! This Friday, our teachers and staff will spend the day learning and collaborating during professional learning focused on preparing for continued student success.

A BIG thank you to our PTO for treating our staff to a delicious salad bar this week! We appreciate everything our PTO does to make Sartartia special. There is still time to support our PTO Fundraiser—this is your opportunity to help fund the events, activities, and special experiences planned for our students and staff throughout the year!

Our Jags had another great week! Football and volleyball celebrated victories, and our teams continue to bring the Jag Spirit! Be sure to mark your calendars and come out to cheer them on. Our Choir also performed at a Space Cowboys game this week, and they were AMAZING! We love watching our students shine! Our first pep rally of the year was a blast! Games, performances, and lots of Jag Spirit made it a great way to celebrate our students and athletes. Be sure to follow us on social media to catch all the fun happening around campus!

Start With Hello Week is here! This week is all about making sure everyone feels welcomed, included, and like they belong. Our PALS have been working hard to prepare lessons and activities for our students. We encourage everyone to join in on our Hello Week dress-up days and activities and help us spread a little extra kindness and Jag Spirit! Let's have a great week Jags!

Your Proud Principal,

Cholly Oglesby

MATHia & Carnegie Learning

This year, our 6th-8th grade math students are using Carnegie Learning, a research-based program designed to build strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of math concepts.

Students will learn through a combination of classroom lessons and MATHia, an adaptive learning program that provides students with personalized practice and step-by-step support based on their individual needs.

Accessing MATHia at Home: Students can access MATHia from home through FBISD 1Link:

  1. Go to the FBISD 1Link Portal.
  2. Select Sign in with 1Link.
  3. Log in using your child's FBISD student email and network password.
  4. Select the Carnegie Learning/MATHia icon from the dashboard.

How Families Can Support Math Learning

  • Encourage a growth mindset: Remind your child that mistakes are an important part of learning, especially when working through challenging math problems.
  • Ask questions instead of giving answers: Try questions like, “What is the problem asking you to do?” or “What does the hint suggest?”
  • Check progress: Ask your child to show you their MATHia dashboard and talk about the skills they are working to master.
  • Use the built-in tools: Encourage your child to use the Hints and Glossary features when they get stuck.

Need your child's network password? You can find it in Skyward Family Access under the Student Password Information tab.
