Mr. Macken's Message
Dear Centerville Families,
I want to start by sharing a huge thank you to our Centerville PTA for organizing the Winter Dance! While I wasn’t able to attend, I heard from so many families about what an incredible night it was. It sounded like the perfect example of what makes our school community so special.
The event brought in new faces to experience Centerville for the first time, welcomed former students back to their elementary stomping grounds, and even had grandparents out on the dance floor. The energy and joy were evident, and the sense of community was strong. In fact, we had over 600 kids and adults attend, with parking lots overflowing and cars lining Main Street. What a great problem to have! Thank you again to CPTA and all who helped make the night such a success.
Looking ahead, we hope to see many of you at another wonderful CPTA-sponsored event this week. On Thursday, March 26 at 6:30 PM, we will be hosting our Children’s Author Night. This was a big hit last year, and we are excited to bring it back.
Be sure to check out the promotional video linked below for more details, but here are a few highlights:
- Hear from a real children’s author
- Enjoy a free Oreo cookie snack
- Participate in a fun craft activity
- Purchase books and have them autographed by the author
This is a fantastic (and free) opportunity to build excitement around reading and spend time together as a family. Hope to see you there.
Go Cougars!
Mike Macken

It’s Not too Late to Register for Early Childhood Screening
Early childhood screening is a requirement for students going to kindergarten in September 2026.
Early Childhood Screening is a free, simple check of a young child's health and development. The program connects parents and children to early childhood programs and community resources. Screening should be done between the ages of 3 and 5 years old and is required for public school attendance. It does not determine kindergarten readiness. We still have the following monthly screening dates available: April 10 and May 7. Schedule an appointment here . If you have any questions or need assistance, send an email to ecscreening@isd12.org or call the Early Childhood office at 763-792-6120.
