Message from the Head of School
Dear Parents/Carers,
Another busy week at HISN; we have been delighted to welcome so many people including parents and carers (as part of our ‘Aspiration Week’), our new families ,who have come to our ‘stay and play’ sessions, and the year three teachers- who have been supporting year two as part of their transition. I very much look forward to sharing our news regarding this.
Aspirations Week
We had an overwhelming response from parents/carers that were interested in coming into school to talk about their jobs. We started the week with an assembly where we had Dina (a past pupil who is currently doing work experience at HISN) talking to our children about what she wants to do when she is older – which is to become a paediatric doctor. Our children also have had opportunities to discuss what they would like to be when they are older and why. Alongside this, we have had numerous talks from parents which have been incredibly interesting and engaging. These have included careers involving football, television, science, aircrafts, the Olympics, writing and engineering. A huge thank you to all of our families that have come into school to talk about what they do – our children have found it fascinating!
Stay and Play Sessions
Our early years team have been incredibly busy this week holding four ‘stay and play’ sessions for our new families joining us in September. We have been delighted to meet so many new faces as well as speaking to some of our nursery children who are coming to reception after the summer. We also hosted our ‘Welcoming Meeting’ this week and it was lovely to meet all our new parents/carers who will be starting their HPP journey. Thank you to our reception team for ensuring all these opportunities can take place.
Transition
Year two have really enjoyed the opportunities to take part in several different parts of their transition programme including: meeting Mr James and asking him questions, meeting their year three teachers and their reading buddies as well as going to watch the year six production. Alongside this, lots of transition has started within school and next Monday will be the children’s new class morning. They will have the time to meet their new class teacher and go to their new classroom.
Thank you for your continued support with our children and I hope you have a restful weekend when it arrives.

HPP Minibus
I am absolutely delighted to unveil our new HPP minibus, it certainly is distinctive with the HPP branding and looks fabulous. This minibus is a testament to what can be achieved by staff and families working together and supporting HPPA through volunteering, attending events and raising money so thanks must go to you our school community. This really is a significant achievement and one which the schools really needed as our current bus is not ULEZ compliant.
As the current HPPA team stands down they can certainly be immensely proud of this achievement and I look forward to working with the new team to continue the great work of HPPA.

Art Week 2026
Last week's tropical weather provided an apt backdrop for our 'Wild' Art Week. We did not let the warm conditions stop us though - the children worked well at adapting the activities to ensure that all they enjoyed a week of creative expression and artistic exploration.
While we were not able to hold our usual showcase with parents, the children enjoyed a short 'gallery walk' to see each others' work, coming back full of excitement at what they'd seen. There were audible 'oohs' and 'aahs' as the children peered closely at the artworks, curiosity well and truly piqued! Each year group and class interpreted the theme in a different way, resulting in a wonderfully diverse range of activities, including articulated paper animals in Year 2, clay polar bears in Reception, detailed poison tree frog drawings in Year 1, mixed-media hedgehogs in Nursery and more.
This year, we focussed on supporting the children's independence in generating ideas and being self-directed in their creativity. We also centred on building in evaluation time to support the children's oracy, critical thinking skills and visual literacy.
Thank you so much to the parent volunteers who came in to support, all the parents who donated items and the teachers for making sure the children enjoyed a brilliant week despite the challenging conditions. A gallery of the children's work will is available on the school website - please do have a look here.

Nursery
What a busy month we have had in Nursery! Collecting shopping and balancing eggs on sports day and using many different forms of media and creativity during Art week. Our theme was London, so we decided to make clay hedgehogs, collage foxes, printed the London skyline with numicon and drew some red London buses. The children created some amazing pieces of art. Please see our online art gallery.
Reception
During Arts week we enjoyed creating our pictures and models on the theme of “WILD” inside. We created drawings, paintings, made models with squishy clay and collaged on our class themes of Wild London, Wild Jungle, Wild Arctic and Wild Sea.
In phonics, we have been practising tricky sounds which don’t always sound the same - like “ed”. New sound “igh” appeared on the board which means we can read and write “high” and “night.” We are becoming quite fluent in Alien!
In Maths, 5 frogs jumping off a log into a pool helped us to remember what numbers are inside 5.
Our books of the week are Clem and the Crab and Somebody Swallowed Stanley. We would all love to be by the seaside helping the sea creatures by cleaning up the beach. We thought about making sure we take reusable bags to go shopping and to make sure we throw away our plastic carefully so that it doesn’t end up in the sea or in rivers.
This week is Aspirations Week. We have been learning about the different jobs which grown-ups do and thinking about what we might like to do when we grow up. Some Mums and Dads visited our school to talk about their jobs.

Amazon Wish Lists
Over the last few years families have very kindly contributed gifts to the school via the Amazon wish list. These gifts are always incredibly well received and have made such a difference to the school community and your children.
This Wish List is populated by teachers who have a clear understanding of the additional resources that are needed and what would make the biggest difference. When completing your purchase, please remember to include a gift receipt stating which year group it should go to and who it is from.
If you are able to make a purchase, please follow the links below:
Parking
Reminder to all parents to be considerate to our neighbours when dropping off and collecting your child. Do not park on zig-zag lines, double yellow lines or block neighbours driveways. Parking on zig-zag lines blocks visibility for both drivers and pedestrians, particularly young children who may be harder to see. Please park legally and considerately, and allow extra time to find appropriate parking. Even better – consider walking, cycling or using a park-and-stride location if possible.
