Lawrence OnwardOur First Week September 12, 2020

First week

This week the Lawrence School District welcomed Cohort A, known as the Blue cohort, back into our buildings. This was the first in- person schooling since March 13th. We remotely began Google classrooms for our Gold Cohort (B ) and our full remote learners. Special education classes, the daily blue and gold cohort, began this week as well. All of our learners respected the 3 w’s ( wash hands, watch distances and wear a mask). They showed LAWRENCE PRIDE!

Elementary School Friends

In person students participated in some google meets with their remote friends. These first days there was a focus on social emotional learning (SEL) and routines for success.

Physics from behind a shield

Our High School students have important classes to pass for on time graduation. Attendance in person or remotely will be key to their success.

Social Distancing in classrooms

All aspects of in person school is different. One way hallways, six foot distancing, closed large gathering areas. What remains consistent is excellent teachers providing instruction in multiple ways to allow learners to meet with success.

Thank you Inwood Fire Department

The learners at the ECC @#4 practiced their first fire drill this week. They were then treated to a special impromptu visit with one of the Inwood Fire Department trucks. We do appreciate that the fire department members took time to give Lawrence’s youngest learners a joyful moment.

We will never forget.

On 9/11 we honored the heroes and the memory those who lost their lives with moments of silence. We conducted flag ceremonies, changing each school’s flag to a new and bigger flag. Links to view the flag ceremonies held at each of our schools in honor and remembrance of 9/11 are found here:
