Monthly Character Trait
Each month throughout the school year, we will be highlighting a character trait for focused conversation and celebration. Our monthly character trait for October is Responsibility. At West Pottsgrove Elementary School, we are defining responsibility as doing the things that you are expected to do and accepting the consequences or results of your actions. Please talk with your child about responsibility and how they can demonstrate this characteristic in a school setting.
Second Step
This month, we will begin the implementation of Second Step for all elementary students, grades K-5. We are excited to bring this research based Social/Emotional Learning Curriculum to our students. Each month, we will share the focus theme with you and ask for your support in continuing these discussions at home. This month, our schoolwide theme is our school as a welcoming place where every student feels like he or she belongs. In our morning announcements and classroom discussions, we will be reminding students to welcome others and act and speak in safe, positive, respectful, and responsible ways. In addition, we'll be continuing our focus on our school rules, the Falcon Four. We'll also begin teaching the Second Step program, which includes lessons that support these behaviors.
Thank you for supporting your child at home in welcoming others and acting and speaking in safe, positive, respectful, and responsible ways.
