Rahul Sahota, his parents, and two siblings immigrated from India in the summer of 2015. At just 14 years old and with very little knowledge of the English language, Rahul was driven to succeed in the classroom at Barry Goldwater High School while quickly adjusting to life in America. He helped his family open their first Indian cuisine restaurant in 2021, and he has now opened his own restaurant concept in Chandler. There are nearly 100 DVUSD employees who are celebrating the next chapter of their lives as we wrap up this school year.

Collectively, this class of retirees has more than 2,000 years of service to DVUSD!

One educator celebrated during the ceremony received a standing ovation for her nearly 50 years of service to DVUSD! Sunrise Elementary School's Reading Specialist, Cindy White, was hired in 1979 during Sunrise Elementary School’s second year as a campus. She has dedicated the entirety of her 46 years in education to one school, Sunrise Elementary School! Cindy served 21 years as a 1st grade teacher and is currently in her 25th year as the Reading Specialist for the school. She has taken great pride as reading specialist working with students that are struggling with their reading skills.

To the DVUSD retirees, thank you for your years of dedication, compassion, leadership, and service. Your contributions have left a lasting legacy within our schools and throughout our community.
