Principal Update - Continuous Improvement Plan
Before the school year starts, each school assembles a Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) Team to assess their school's data. This includes reviewing attendance, grade performance, behavior, and student and family perception surveys. The team then sets two main goals to focus on for the upcoming school year, and creates an action plan. Superior High School's two CIP goals for the 2023/24 school year are:
Goal 1: We will increase the number of students earning class credit in each of their classes to 100% by the end of each semester.
Reduction in Course failures per semester:
800 in 2021-2022 to 400 in 2023-2024
2022-2023 Graduation Rate: 95%
2021-2022 Graduation Rate: 85%
Goal 2: We will Increase the number of students feeling valued within the school community to 100% as measured by student perception survey in the Spring of 2024.
Mid-Year Survey Results:
Trusted adult - increase from 83.6% to 86.8%
Feeling valued - increase from 74.8% to 76.9%
Students will be surveyed again later this month.
Family Engagement Opportunities
All Night Grad Party Planning
SHS has an annual tradition of an all-night party for our graduates, organized and hosted by parents. This year the party will be held on the evening of graduation on Friday, May 31st. We need all hands on deck to pull off this celebration! Interested in helping? Here are a few ways:
- Sign up to help set up or help at the event. Please sign up by filling out your info on this form. Our school district is requiring that all volunteers in our buildings pass a two part background check. Once you complete the sign up, you will be sent info for completing the background check. We do want to get a jump on this to complete it so that we are ready to go by the time May comes around, so please sign up asap.
- Join the planning committee if you'd like to help even further, connect with Nicky Wilson at nickyw2433@gmail.com and she can assist you with meeting dates.
- Support: Save the date to visit Superior DQ on May 1st from 5-8pm and mention the flyer below for a percentage of your purchase to be donated toward the party fund. The more that can be raised, the better experience we can give the students this year, and also start a nest egg for next year.
- Donations: If you know a businesses or individual that would like to make a donation, they can be made directly below. The committee is also looking for gift card donations to give to students as prizes. And donations can be brought into the main office.
Teacher Appreciation Week: May 6-10th
We will be helping celebrate our SHS teachers and staff during national Teacher Appreciation Week May 6th-10th. We will be putting together a variety of prize baskets for staff to do a drawing during this week. Do you know an individual or a business who would like to donate a prize basket or gift cards to show their appreciation? Contact SHS Family Engagement Coordinator, LeAnn Egnash, at leann.egnash@superior.k12.wi.us for details.
The PTSA also have a variety of donation needs to make that week special for the 220+ teachers between the two schools.
There are two ways you can help!
*Click here to give a monetary donation and they'll do the shopping.
*Click here to sign up to bring items. We are asking for donations to be delivered the day before the planned event to allow the PTSA board time to evaluate totals and complete additional shopping if necessary.
Volunteers
If you plan to help out at Superior High School, please visit the link below and complete the 2 PART process. If you need assistance with the fee associated with the background check, please email leann.egnash@superior.k12.wi.us and she can help you. We do not want this fee to deter you from making a positive difference at our school. You can specify in your application if you want it to include multiple schools within our district. Health Office Update
This school year 23/24 is coming to an end, and we along with you are looking forward to summer break. If you have medication in the health office, we will need the parent to pick up Prescription medications on or before 6/6/24 unless other arrangements are made.
June 7th is the last day of school. On June 7th at the end of the day 3:00 p.m. all medications will be destroyed that are left in the health office. We do not keep any medications over the summer.
Next School year 24-25 if your child will need medications at school, you can find the medication consent forms on the school district site. All medications need a parent’s signature along with you sending in the medication you want your child to receive at school (medication in original bottle, not expired). If the medication is a Prescription, then we also need a provider / Doctor signature’s along with parents’ signature. (Medication in non-expired Rx. Bottle)
Thank you, have a great summer S.H.S. Health office.
Contact Ms. Elaine at elaine.holmberg@superior.k12.wi.us with any questions or assistance with attendance needs. Please remember that our school day starts at 7:55am every day, on Wednesdays our day starts at 8:25am.
