2. School Board hosts listening sessions

In ongoing efforts to gather feedback from stakeholders, the School Board is hosting quarterly Listening Sessions for the public. The sessions provide the opportunity for community members, staff, parents, and students to meet informally with board representatives and the superintendent to discuss topics in the schools. Listening Sessions increase communication and engagement work that reflects the district’s commitment to excellence. Additional sessions to seek input/perspective on topics established by the Board would be scheduled as a special or additional Board Listening Session.

Board members or the superintendent may ask clarifying questions of you as the participant to gain a thorough understanding of your concern, suggestion, or request. If there is any follow-up or response to your comment or suggestion, you will be contacted via email or phone in a timely manner by a member of the board or administration. Please be aware that disrespectful comments or comments of a personal nature, directed at an individual either by name or inference, will not be allowed. Personnel concerns should be directed first to a principal or executive director of the department, then to the executive director of human resources, then to the superintendent, and finally, in writing, to the board.

Upcoming listening sessions:

December 1, February 9, and April 20. Sessions are held in the District Office Board Room from 5:30 pm-6:15 pm. More information can be found on the Centennial website.

3. Honoring alumni and members of the community

Know of a Centennial graduate or member of the community who has made a significant impact on their profession, Centennial Schools and/or the community? Nominees for induction into the Centennial Hall of Fame represent the school district's values of making connections with our communities, providing opportunities for students to achieve, and preparing our students for a successful future. Nomination information is on the Centennial Website. Nominations are due January 6, 2026.

4. Make a difference and be a substitute in our schools

Don’t miss this chance to get involved and make a difference in the Centennial School District! No experience necessary; training provided!

This is a great opportunity to:

· Be involved in your child’s education and help out in the schools.

· Turn your volunteer hours into extra income.

· Work a schedule that fits with your student’s schedule.

· Get paid weekly and take advantage of bonus opportunities.

Available substitute positions (apply at My Kelly):

• Substitute Teachers: To qualify, you must have bachelor’s degree with MN Teaching or Substitute License; you can obtain a Short Call License if you have a bachelor’s degree.

• Substitute Paraprofessionals: To qualify, you must have a HS Diploma/GED.

Substitutes are also needed for Kids Club, food service, custodial, administrative assistants, and nurses. Application information for these positions can be found on the Centennial website.

Late Arrivals

When bringing your child to school tardy, (after 9:22am) we ask you to please partner with us and park your vehicle, then escort your child to the office door and sign them in. Do not drop your student off and drive away . This is a safety issue as we have no supervision for arrivals after 9:22am.

On the home page scroll to the bottom and enter an absence request.

On your computer Computer: Infinite Campus Parent Portal

Follow THESE directions to find the attendance request

Student absence requests will be submitted through Campus Parent Portal for students in grades Pre-K through 12. An “Attendance Request” link can be found on the Parent Hub on your student’s school website for easy access to the Portal and includes resources to assist. A Guide on How to Submit Absence Requests

Things to keep in mind:

· Students with standing appointments during the school day must submit an absence request for each day with an appointment.

· Absences can be submitted in advance. Have an upcoming vacation? Submit it now!

· Appointments scheduled outside of school hours are preferred and appreciated.

Please Avoid Late Notifications

Attendance: please submit all attendance matters by 9 am. This includes absences, tardies, and early releases. It can be difficult for the office to reach teachers in the afternoon, especially at dismissal time. We do not like to interrupt instructional time, and teachers are often unable to check their email in the afternoon. Frequent dismissal changes can also be confusing to students.

The online attendance form states that if you are submitting an early release with less than 2 hours notice to please call the office. Thank you.
