A Message from the Principal 💙

November: An Attitude of Gratitude

November is a wonderful time to reflect on the things we are thankful for and the people who make a difference in our lives. But gratitude shouldn't be something we only think about during Thanksgiving. It's something we can practice every single day.

Sometimes we get so caught up in our busy schedules, responsibilities, and challenges that we overlook the small acts of kindness happening around us. Someone holding a door open, offering an encouraging word, helping without being asked, or simply taking a moment to make someone smile. These little moments matter, and so does taking the time to recognize them.

This November, I want to challenge our entire New Hope family—students, staff, and parents—to say "thank you" at least FIVE times every day! Not just out of habit, but with genuine appreciation for the people and actions that make our days a little brighter.

To help us put gratitude into action, I encourage everyone to try our 3-2-1 Gratitude Challenge!

3 – Give Kindness: Do THREE things for others that you would appreciate someone doing for you. They don't have to be grand gestures. Sometimes the smallest acts make the biggest difference.

2 – Notice Kindness: Recognize TWO acts of kindness, whether they are directed toward you or something you witness someone doing for another person. Take a moment to acknowledge those actions and say thank you when you can.

1 – Share Gratitude: Think of ONE person who made your day better and let them know. A simple, sincere "thank you" may mean more to them than you realize.

Imagine the difference we could make if each of us intentionally looked for opportunities to show kindness and express gratitude every day. Sometimes we may never know how much our words or actions mean to someone else.

Gratitude costs nothing, but it can mean everything to the person receiving it.

Let's make November a month of noticing the good, appreciating one another, and remembering that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.

Every Student. Every Day. Every Opportunity. 💙

Thanksgiving Baskets

Lovington Schools is proud to partner with the Lovington Food Coalition to help supply food items for Thanksgiving Baskets. Food will be collected from each school on November 19, 2026 and be distributed to families on November 23, 2026. The Lovington Food Coalition is so grateful for the outpouring of generosity the schools have shown as we start our 12th season of giving. This year NHHS will be collecting boxed stuffing mix.

Critical Thinking 🧠

Critical Thinking is our Portrait of a Wildcat trait for November!

Critical thinking is a skill that reaches far beyond the classroom. In fact, it is one of the most valuable skills employers look for when hiring and developing their employees. Why? Because the ability to think independently, solve problems, and make thoughtful decisions is important in nearly every aspect of life.

Critical thinking isn't simply about looking at the same problem and arriving at the same solution as everyone else. It's about learning to look at situations through your own lens, drawing from your experiences, knowledge, and understanding to recognize possibilities others may not immediately see.

Sometimes that means asking questions no one else has thought to ask. Other times, it means listening to a different perspective, considering information you may have overlooked, or recognizing that the first solution isn't always the best one.

Being a critical thinker doesn't mean you always have the right answer. It means you're willing to think beyond the obvious, challenge your own assumptions, and consider the impact of your decisions.

As we continue to grow as students, educators, and individuals, we must remember that our ability to think critically is strengthened through practice. Every challenge we encounter is an opportunity to develop this skill.

This November, we encourage our Wildcats to be curious, ask questions, consider different perspectives, and recognize that their unique way of thinking may be exactly what is needed to find a solution others haven't considered.

Think beyond the obvious. Your perspective matters! 💙

Night School Is Underway at New Hope High School! 🎓

New Hope High School's Night School program kicked off on October 26 and will continue through December 10! This is an additional opportunity for students to recover credits, receive academic support, and make progress toward graduation.

Night School is available Monday through Thursday on days when school is in session. Doors open at 4:50 PM, with two sessions offered each evening:

  • Session 1: 5:00–6:30 PM

  • Session 2: 6:30–8:00 PM

Students may enroll in one or multiple sessions based on their needs and availability. Students participating in Night School will also have access to an additional credit recovery class, providing another opportunity to earn credits toward graduation.

Once enrolled, students are expected to attend their selected sessions consistently and make the most of this additional learning time.

Parents and Guardians: If you have questions or concerns about your student's academic progress, graduation requirements, or credit recovery needs, please contact the NHHS office to schedule a meeting. We are happy to work with you and your student to develop a plan for success.

Every credit earned is one step closer to graduation!

Every Student. Every Day. Every Opportunity. 💙

Mr. Jeremy Skinner, Special Education Teacher

As I begin my 20th year in education, I continue to be inspired by the opportunity to make a positive impact on students' lives every day. Throughout my career, I have taught a diverse range of learners while also serving as a coach for football, softball, and baseball. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the importance of building strong relationships, fostering teamwork, and helping students develop both academically and personally.

Outside of school, I am deeply committed to my family. My wife and I are blessed with six children and eight grandchildren, who constantly remind me of the value of patience, encouragement, and lifelong learning. Teaching is more than a profession for me; it is an opportunity to invest in the future, support student growth, and help young people discover their potential. The relationships I build with students and the chance to see them succeed are what make teaching such a rewarding career.

Mrs. Brady, Social Studies Teacher

I am a dedicated high school Government teacher who is passionate about helping students understand civics, politics, and their role as informed citizens. I enjoy creating engaging learning experiences that encourage critical thinking, meaningful discussion, and an appreciation for how government impacts our daily lives.

Outside of the classroom, my greatest joy is spending time with my family. I am the proud parent of four children, a grandparent to ten wonderful grandchildren, and a great-grandparent to one precious great-granddaughter. Family relationships and traditions are at the center of my life.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, baking delicious treats for family and friends, keeping up with political issues and current events, and finding moments of quiet time to relax and reflect. Whether I am teaching, spending time with loved ones, enjoying a good book, or trying a new recipe, I value lifelong learning, personal growth, and the importance of making meaningful connections with others.
