Kindergarten News

Dear families,

As we prepare for the end of our kindergarten year, we have begun a special countdown with Mrs. Newman’s class! To celebrate all the fun memories we’ve made, the students worked together to create an end-of-the-year bucket list filled with activities and experiences they hope to enjoy during the summer. We are excited to make the most of our remaining days together!

Aside from our kindergarten countdown, students are beginning to explore some of the exciting math concepts they will encounter in first grade. They have been exploring counting to 120 by ones and tens, strengthening their understanding of number patterns and place value. In addition, students are continuing to develop their addition and subtraction skills through hands-on activities, games, and problem solving tasks. They are learning different strategies to solve problems and explain their thinking. Kindergarten students have been working very hard, and are excited to show all they have learned!

Thank you for taking the time to stay connected with all the exciting learning happening in our kindergarten classroom

NEWS FROM SECOND GRADE

Hello Second Grade Families!

We have reached our last unit in ELA all about Fables, Folktales and Fairytales. Students are having a great time reading all of these different stories. Students will be doing a readers theater where they will have a part and be acting out a familiar fable. They will also work as a group to create a setting for their performance!

Summer is almost here!

I just want to say what a GREAT YEAR all of our second graders have had! I am so very proud of each and every one of them and can’t wait to see what third grade brings them! It has been a pleasure being a part of your children's everyday lives and getting to know them has been a real joy! I am going to miss them!!

NEWS FROM FIFTH GRADE

Fifth-grade students are ending the school year by studying both customary and metric units of measurement. They have practiced converting units of length, mass, weight, and capacity, such as centimeters to meters, grams to kilograms, inches to feet, and cups to gallons. Through problem-solving activities and real-world applications, students learned the importance of measurement conversions in everyday life. They applied multiplication and division skills to solve measurement challenges and gained confidence in selecting appropriate units for different situations.

In Science, students are concluding the year by exploring the wonders of space. They learned about the planets in our solar system, identified and studied constellations, and investigated how gravity influences the motion of objects both in space and on Earth. Through engaging activities and discussions, students developed a deeper understanding of our universe while strengthening their observation, inquiry, and critical-thinking skills. It has been an exciting year of learning and discovery for our fifth graders!

NEWS FROM MRS. DIRIENZO

Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy outdoor adventures, spend time with family and friends, explore new places, and make special memories. But don't forget to keep your minds active by reading a good book, writing in a journal, practicing math skills, or trying something new. Good luck to our sixth grade graduates, and don't forget us, as we won't forget you! Have a fun-filled summer and enjoy every moment!

NEWS FROM MAKERSPACE/STEAM

Stillwater's Makerspace upgraded its 3-D printer technology this year, allowing older students to take hands-on learning and design to a whole new dimension in the coming years. The new Bambu printers, along with Tinkercad.com software, helps bring art, architecture, and engineering together in one project-based learning experience for students. The best part is that students get to see firsthand that if they can dream it and design it, then they can hold it in their hands!
