A Message from the Principal
We are so excited to welcome you back to Souhegan! Our first-floor core areas look wonderful with fresh paint, and they’ll look even better once filled with the energy of our students.
Below you’ll find important information for the first days of school, including the schedule and our expectations around personal communication devices. I know some of you may feel anxious about this change or have questions. Please know that we are ready to welcome you and provide support. While it may take some time to adjust to our new device-free culture, we are confident in our collective ability to adapt and grow. Together, we will build an even stronger community, rooted in personal connection.
I can’t wait to see you all on Tuesday!
Warmly,
Dana
Setting Expectations Together: First Days Back
The first days of school are designed to warmly welcome students while setting a clear, consistent foundation for the year ahead.
Tuesday, August 27 (First Day Back – Non-Color Day)
Students have heard and will hear a unified message about expectations and consequences through multiple channels: our Welcome Back letter, the Souhegan Scoop, social media, morning announcements, advisor conversations, and an end-of-day assembly. This day is about building relationships, clarifying expectations, and aligning as a community. All personal communication devices, regardless of what mode they are in, should remain at home or off and away for the day.
Wednesday, August 28 (First Gold Day)
Beginning Wednesday, the School Board’s Policy JICJ on personal electronic devices will move into full implementation at Souhegan. This means the expectations, consequences, and procedures outlined in our Student Handbook will be applied consistently across classrooms and campus spaces.
Why This Matters
We know that navigating a shift in community expectations can be challenging at first. Success depends on all of us being aligned with students, staff, and families working together. We are confident in our community’s support for this important initiative, and we believe it will strengthen our learning environment and culture in the long run.
As part of this alignment, we ask families: please review the expectations and consequences together with your students. This shared understanding helps set students up for success and ensures we begin the year with clarity and consistency. Thank you so much for your partnership!

Claws for a Cause: Souhegan’s Homecoming Week
The Souhegan Ethics Forum is excited to present Claws for a Cause, our annual homecoming celebration happening this year from September 15–20. This spirited, week-long event brings the Souhegan community together through school pride, fun activities, and a shared commitment to making a difference.
Students can get involved by purchasing a Claws for a Cause T-shirt to wear on Friday, cheering on our teams at home athletic events throughout the week, and participating in advisory and after-school activities. The celebration builds up to the Friday night football game and the much-anticipated Homecoming Dance on Saturday.
More than just a celebration, Claws for a Cause reflects Souhegan’s mission to be active stewards of family, nation, and globe. Each year, the Ethics Forum selects charitable organizations to support, using this week to raise both awareness and funds for these important causes.
Let’s come together as Sabers to celebrate, connect, and create positive change!
