May Parent Events

Join us on the lawn of Leander High School's Practice Field for a fun Sensory Friendly Family Movie Night! We will be starting Encanto at 6pm! As we will be outdoors on the practice field, please be sure to bring a towel, blanket or chair to sit on. There will be signs to direct you where to go and park. Please stay together as a family at the event as childcare will not be provided. We will be providing light snacks to enjoy during the movie. We hope to see you there!

We will be hosting our general meeting in- person at LEO from 5:30pm -7:00pm. The purpose of the Special Programs Advisory Council (The PAC) is to provide a coordinated approach and seek feedback on meaningful initiatives to support parents of children with disabilities. Everyone is welcome to join! Here is the agenda for our general meeting:

• Welcome and Table Icebreaker Activity
• Student Panel - We will have a small panel of students discuss their journey
• Council Forum - Council members will have the opportunity to share questions and concerns with the Executive Council.
• Committee Work - The last 30 minutes of our meeting will be dedicated to building the foundations of our 3 committees: It's not too late to join! This will be the first meeting for all of our committees.
• Family Community Events- The purpose of this committee is to coordinate community events for parents and families to come together.
• New Family Outreach - The purpose of this committee is to provide resources for new to special programs families as they navigate the world of new diagnosis, figuring out how to get connected, and building community
• Student Transition- The purpose of this committee is to provide feedback and brainstorm ideas to present to the PAC about making the student transition process smoother

We will be providing limited childcare for this event. You must pre register your child for childcare.
