We are proud to share that Gold Rush continues to be an award-winning school, with exciting recognitions highlighting both our academic success and our vibrant arts programs.

This week, Gold Rush proudly accepted the John Irwin School of Excellence Award from the State of Colorado. Schools receive this honor for exceptional academic achievement in English Language Arts, Mathematics and Science as measured by the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS). Gold Rush has earned this distinction for several consecutive years, and we are incredibly proud of our continued commitment to strong academic practices across all grade levels, K–5.

We are also thrilled to celebrate our students’ artistic accomplishments. Several Gold Rush students received special recognition for their artwork at the District Art Fair. Congratulations to Caroline Schar, Madelyn Saulnier, Lovella Olivetta, Emmery Zimmerman, Norah Best, Harper Campbell, and Ellie Espinoza for their outstanding achievements. We extend our thanks to our art teacher, Ms. Dazzio, for supporting and inspiring our students and for providing them with this wonderful opportunity.

In addition, our librarian, Mrs. Golish, will be recognized at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, May 12, for receiving her third HESTL Award. She has previously been honored for fostering a positive, engaging school community and for maintaining a current and expansive library collection. This year’s award recognizes her leadership in developing a strong vision that incorporates both student and parent voices.

We are deeply proud of our students, staff, and families for their daily efforts and commitment to learning. These recognitions reflect our shared dedication to high academic standards and a well-rounded learning environment.

Thank you for your continued support of Gold Rush Elementary.

HANDS-ON SCIENCE IN KINDERGARTEN HANDS-ON SCIENCE IN KINDERGARTEN

Our kindergarteners are currently engaged in hands-on experiences that are putting their science knowledge to the test. Students have been exploring the concepts of force and motion, specifically investigating how different strengths and directions of pushes and pulls affect the motion of objects.

As part of their culminating activity, students designed and built creative contraptions for a grade-level egg drop. Their innovative designs were put to the test as the principal and assistant principal dropped the eggs from the roof of the school. We are excited to report that the majority of the eggs remained uncracked—an impressive accomplishment!

Students are continuing to combine their scientific understanding with creativity during Inventors Time. They are designing a wide range of inventions, including favorites like marble movers. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm, problem-solving skills, and excitement come to life through these projects.

We are proud of our young learners and look forward to seeing what they create next!

Gold Rush students participating in the Golden Ticket Theater program took the stage on Friday to perform Once Upon a Mattress for the school—and they were absolutely amazing! With stunning vocals, expressive acting, and impressive stage presence, our student performers captivated the audience and brought this funny story to life.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to parent and staff member, Chelsea Hanna, and our Administrative Assistant, Anita Rudman, for their hard work and dedication in making this production possible.

We hope you’ll join us to experience the full show! Public performances will be held this weekend at the following times: Friday at 6:30 PM and Saturday at 1:00 PM & 6:30 PM. We hope to see you there!
