Classroom Sneak Peek
The SMS art department hosted a guest artist on May 24, as part of the 8th grade pottery wheel unit. Adam Stevenson visited the 8th graders and showcased his work and demonstrated some advanced wheel throwing techniques for the students. Students were also able to ask questions about the process. This was a fun and engaging way to wrap up the unit for the 8th graders.
Healthy Minute from our Health Office
If your child has an Emergency Action Plan (related to allergies, asthma, diabetes, seizures, etc.) please be sure to have the paperwork and medication consent form completed AND SIGNED by your provider PRIOR to the first day of the 24-25 school year. It is very important to have the yearly forms completed with your child’s physician so we have the necessary parent and physician authorization for specialized health care procedures and treatment. Forms can be found on our district website, toggle over the "District" tab and click on health services to access the forms. Forms will also be sent home with students in their backpacks, please be on the lookout for them! Thanks, and have a great summer!

8th Grade students had their day of service on Thursday, May 23rd. Some choices that students had were helping clean up the skate park, volunteering at elementary schools, helping at the public library, Spring clean up at the school forest, assisting seniors in the community, playing music, and flag planting in honor of Memorial Day. Great work, class of 2028!
Food Service
Breakfast and dinner at SMS continue to be free for all students, but lunch is paid. We encourage all families to apply for free and reduced lunch. Even if you are not eligible, your application helps our school. You can apply multiple times throughout the school year, especially if your home situation changes. You can easily add funds into your student's lunch account through My School Bucks.
Library Update
It’s been a busy year in the SMS library! We checked out over 9,821 library books, averaged 100 student visits per day and hosted classes from all grade levels and content each and every week. Students can keep reading all summer with the Sora reading app which provides digital and audiobooks 24/7. Congratulations to our students with the most library book checkouts. The top 10 for each grade level will receive a free book and certificate.

Along with the many classes offered at our schools, we have partnered with the City of Superior Parks and Recreation Department which offers outdoor playground programs throughout the area. Of course, these programs depend on if the weather cooperates.
The Summer Playground Program is a weather-dependent program scheduled from 11:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, starting in the middle of June and ending in the middle of August. The program's goal is to provide supervised play and outdoor fun in a safe environment for children ages 5-11 in Superior.
