PRINCIPAL GREETING
PRINCIPAL GREETING
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Congratulations to those who had a child inducted into our National Honor Society last night. It was truly an exciting evening to honor and recognize our students for their accomplishments.
We are lucky to have a number of additional opportunities for our students to shine coming up, with our Choir and Band Concerts. Additionally, you won’t want to miss out on our FFA flower sale this weekend- the students have worked hard to ensure the Winter Plant Sale has a great deal to offer.
Finally, we are approaching the halfway point in the second marking period. Please be sure to check PowerSchool and talk to your students about their grades- we want to ensure they close out 2025 strong and help them gain momentum going into our break.
Thank you for all you do,
Dr. McCann

Governor’s Educator Of The Year Announced!
Teacher: Mrs. Katherine Farley
Mrs. Farley is an exceptional educator who brings out the spark of joy in every student she meets. Her classroom is a place where all students—of every background and ability—feel valued, supported, and inspired to learn. Her lessons are engaging, thoughtful, and rooted in compassion, and she works closely with her team, students, and families to build a culture of respect and shared success.
Beyond her classroom, Mrs. Farley is a leader in every sense. She is always the first to volunteer, to lend a hand, and to support her colleagues. As class council advisor, she gives countless hours to her students—planning events, decorating for homecoming, and even guiding a successful Disney trip. As a member of the school’s sunshine committee, she works to create a welcoming and joyful space for staff. Her dedication and humility have earned her the admiration of our entire school community.
Mrs. Farley truly embodies the heart of the teaching profession, and we are incredibly proud to recognize her with this well-deserved honor.
Educational Services Professional: Mrs. Casey Faust
Mrs. Faust is an extraordinary advocate for students. She builds meaningful, trusting relationships that ensure every child feels seen, supported, and valued. Her commitment to student success, well-being, and equity is evident in everything she does—from academic planning and social-emotional support to guiding students through moments of challenge and crisis.
One of Mrs. Faust’s greatest strengths is her deep expertise in college and post-secondary planning. She helps students navigate each step with clarity and confidence: exploring career interests, building strong academic pathways, completing applications, and understanding financial aid and scholarships. Her ability to simplify complex processes and offer individualized guidance has opened doors for countless students, helping them find schools and opportunities that truly fit their goals.
Beyond her work with students, Mrs. Faust is a collaborative leader who supports staff, strengthens our systems, and advocates for resources that help all students thrive. Her professionalism, compassion, and dedication make a lasting impact on our entire school community.
District Support Staff: Mrs. Deb McMullen
Over the years, Mrs. McMullen has served in a variety of roles—working in the Director’s Office, supporting our Child Study Team, and now excelling as our Data Specialist. But anyone who knows Mrs. McMullen understands that her title barely scratches the surface of her impact.
Mrs. McMullen is a mentor. She is a steady, calming voice on even the busiest of days. She is a problem-solver who never hesitates to jump in, troubleshoot, and find a path forward. When a challenge arises—big or small—Mrs. McMullen is already two steps ahead, thinking through solutions, gathering answers, and supporting everyone around her.
Congratulations to Mrs. McMullen on being named District Support Staff Member of the Year. It is an honor she has more than earned, and one that reflects the deep gratitude we all feel for her.

Lost and Found FINAL WEEK BEFORE IT GOES!
If your child is missing an item, particularly a piece of clothing or a water bottle, please encourage them to check the lost and found. Most of our lost and found items are on tables outside the gymnasium and items that are more valuable are on the main office counter (jewelry, electronics, etc). Ultimately, whatever is not picked up is donated at different times of the year to the PTSC clothing drive

Local Food Resources for New Jersey Families
SFAs may be experiencing increased calls from families concerned about the potential loss of SNAP benefits on November 1st. Please note the New Jersey Basic Needs Information Hub offers a comprehensive listing of websites that can assist households in locating a local food pantry or soup kitchen. Families may also choose to access the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Food Bank of South Jersey, Fulfill, Norwescap, and Mercer Street Friends websites directly to search for local food resources.
Thank you for providing these important resources to families at this time, and for your unwavering work to ensure New Jersey students receive healthy, nutritious meals every day.
Clinical Corner
If you are looking forward to being with family during the Thanksgiving holiday that is something to be grateful for. For many teens and adults alike, it can be a stressful time, due to unrealistic expectations, resurfacing conflicts, differing viewpoints, criticism, lack of boundaries and sometimes even grief and loss due to death, divorce or estrangement. For one, media and cultural narratives frequently paint a picture of perfect families around perfectly arranged food, and just right decor. When reality falls short, it can cause disappointment and frustration. Also, the holidays tend to extend time with family members which can lead to more arguments or a tense environment. Discussions of hot topics like politics, or personal life choices(single status or a teen’s blue hair) can contribute to anxiety. Often people feel obligated to attend family gatherings or engage in difficult conversations which can cause resentment or overwhelm. It’s hard to set boundaries with family members for fear of hurt feelings. Lastly, the absence of loved ones can exacerbate feelings of loneliness and sadness.
However, the Mayo Clinic Press, in an article titled Tips for Taking Control of Holiday Stress, describes holiday stress and anxiety above as “unwanted guests”. Here is what they say to minimize holiday dread:
-Acknowledge your feelings. Allow yourself and your teen to feel all the feelings and even cry if need be. Find someone to share your feelings with and you might just find you are not alone in them.
-Reach out. Seek support, even helping others is a good way to help ourselves.
-Be realistic. It’s not realistic to feel holiday joy all the time and it can be helpful to adjust expectations before going into the gathering.
-Set aside differences. Keep conversations on the surface/tread lightly with ones you know could easily escalate
-Saying no is ok. If you are overwhelmed or even need to leave early to recharge your social battery, that’s better than saying something you might regret. Taking breaks and going for a short walk can really help.
-Keep up with healthy habits and self-care. Keeping everyone’s normal routine intact as best as possible is a good strategy too.
