Eleven Springdale Public Schools student-athletes have been named to the initial Arkansas Democrat-Gazette All Arkansas Preps Teams for the 2021-22 season.
All Arkansas Preps celebrates high school athletes from across the state and their accomplishments in twelve sports.
Bulldog honorees include Kevin Brumfield, Springdale High School, 2021-2022 Boys Swimming/Diving Team, and Maizie Sanchez, Springdale High School, 2021-2022 Girls Swimming/Diving Team.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette editorial committee chooses teams in each sport to feature in the newspaper at the end of each season. The teams are determined in a statewide competition for golf, tennis, cross country, and swimming and diving. The committee chooses the best players in the state, which include a first, second, and sophomore team in volleyball, football, wrestling, and basketball.
All selected students will be honored at the All Arkansas Preps Banquet on June 11 at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. Torii Hunter, a former Major League Baseball player, will speak at the event.
The Outstanding Player of the Year in each sport will be recognized at the event, as will the Overall Male Athlete, Overall Female Athlete, and Coach of the Year.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has announced the teams for seven sports at this time. The remaining teams will be released as the sports complete their state meets.
