Dear Carmen Arace Middle School families,

I hope you and your family have had a summer filled with love, laughter, and learning. I am thrilled to welcome our scholars back to school on August 27th.

Adolescence presents unique opportunities for growth, discovery, and self-reflection. During this important stage of development, students need our guidance, encouragement, and support. We are deeply committed to nurturing each student's academic, social, and emotional growth within a safe, engaging learning environment. Your partnership is essential to student success.

We will continue to strengthen school-home connections through our newsletter, CAMS Chronicles. This publication is just one of many ways to keep you informed and connected throughout the year. In this edition, you will find important information and resources to help your child prepare for the start of the school year.

We hope to see you at the CAMS Back-to-School Meet & Greet on Tuesday, August 25th. We look forward to welcoming students back to campus on Thursday, August 27th!

Warmly,

Diana Bunting

Principal

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Guidelines

To ensure a safe and smooth experience for everyone, please follow these important guidelines during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times:

  • Maintain one lane to keep traffic flowing efficiently.

  • Keep the crosswalk clear at all times to protect our students.

Morning Drop-Off:
Begins at 7:50 AM in front of the building. Please do not drop off students earlier, as supervision is not available before this time.

Afternoon Pick-Up:
Begins at 2:45 PM. If you need to pick up your child early, please notify the office by 12:00 PM and plan to complete early pick-up by 2:15 PM.

Dress Code

As a reminder, uniforms are no longer required. You are welcome to have your child “remix” their wardrobe by combining former uniform pieces with casual attire—for example, khaki pants with a graphic T-shirt or a polo shirt with jeans.

Please review the complete dress code guidelines outlined in the Board of Education policy:

BOE Policy 5132-Student Dress Code

We appreciate your partnership in ensuring that students arrive at school each day dressed appropriately for a safe, comfortable, and focused learning environment.

Electronic Devices

Cell phones, smart watches, and other personal electronic devices must remain off and secured in students’ lockers throughout the day. The school is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen personal electronic devices.

Lockers

Please provide two locks, one for P.E. (Gym) and one for personal lockers. It will be necessary for students to provide homeroom teachers with the combination and/or extra key for emergency purposes. Locks ensure the security of your child's belongings.

Late Buses

Late buses are available to students who remain after school to receive support or participate in extracurricular activities. Our late buses pick up students at 4:10 P.M. The start date for late buses is September 21st. Information regarding clubs, sports, and other extracurricular offerings are forthcoming.

Extension Program

Registration is open for the Extension Program serving students entering Kindergarten through Grade 7. Families who would like their child to begin attending on the first day of school should complete registration by Friday, August 14th. Please see the flyer for registration details.

A complete guide to school procedures and policies is provided in the Student and Family Handbook, which will be available on the school webpage.
