Principal Message
I'm so excited that the start of the year is drawing near; I hope you are as well! A few reminders:
~ Entrance Conferences will be held on Monday, August 25 and Tuesday, August 26. If you have not yet signed up for an Entrance Conference please do so ASAP! As you may know, the first day of school for students in grades K-5 will begin on Wednesday, August 27. IMPORTANT: If you have not yet completed your Census Verification, please do not delay in getting this completed--information about how to do this is below.
~ Fall Pictures: Due to the District 77 calendar change, Lifetouch will not be able to offer pictures at Entrance Conferences. They have agreed to offer a before-school picture day on Wednesday, August 20th from 7:00am-7:00pm. We recognize that this date will not work for all students, but we also wanted to offer a day before school started for those students and families who might be able to do pictures on that day. The PTO is looking for volunteers to help on this day. Any parent who volunteers will receive a voucher for 50% off a package. Here is the link to sign up to volunteer; don't delay as these spots typically fill very quickly (ONE spot left!).
All the best,
Ann

Entrance Procedures
Unless you have a pre-arranged plan with school staff for drop-off that involves coming inside the building, please say your goodbyes to your kiddos outside of our school building. Your child can then come into the building independently and go about their day. As a parent, should you need something, please enter the building at Door #1, ring the bell and go directly into the office area. The Washington office staff will assist you with what you need.
This procedure will also apply to Kindergarten students and their caregivers. We work to build independence in our youngest learners and respectfully request that Kindergarten parents/guardians say goodbye outside of Door #13 and refrain from coming into the Kindergarten hallway. Door #13 will lock promptly at 8:00.
Students in grades 1-5 who arrive after the first bell rings at 7:50 will need to go through the office to access the school, as the interior doors at the main entrance remain locked at all times, and the staff who monitor that door begin their day promptly at 7:50. Please do your best to have your child arrive at school before 7:50. They will be marked tardy if they arrive after 8:00.
We value partnership with parents, as well as creating a safe space for students and developing independence in each child. Thank you.
Looking for a part-time job?
This school year, we are in need of a cafeteria/hallway supervisor to help kids as they transition from leaving the cafeteria to going outside for lunch recess. This person would be responsible for students transitioning safely to recess, helping to monitor and supervise students. It would be 1.5 hours/day, each day kids are in session, and the times would be approximately 11:00-12:30. The pay is $16.40/hour. If you are interested in this, or know someone who might be interested and available, please have them reach out to me by either calling (507-345-3059) or emailing me at ahagge1@isd77.org.
This can be a great opportunity for a college student or a retired individual.
We are looking for a K-3 Math Corps Tutor
Washington is on the hunt for a Math Corps Tutor for our K-3 students. If you know of any strong candidates or volunteers who might be a great fit for Washington Math Corps, please feel free to share this link with them: https://readingandmath.org/get-involved/become-a-tutor/
This can be a great opportunity for a college student, a recent graduate, someone who may be taking a gap year, or a retired individual. It comes with all the training you need and lots of internal and external coaching to support your success. As a tutor, you’ll receive AmeriCorps member benefits like a regular stipend, extra money for college or student loans, health insurance and more. Plus, you'd have the benefit of getting to work with rockin' Washington Wildcats and amazing adults who support them!

Below are the steps to complete the Census Verification process.
Step 1: Log into your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account.
Step 2: Select MORE from the menu along the left side of the screen.
Step 3: Select CENSUS VERIFICATION
Step 4: Select Begin Registration

Important information to know before you get started:
- Only one parent/guardian per household will need to complete the Census Verification process.
- The Census Verification link is only active for one household per child. If your child has more than one household, the link will be active for the parent/guardian that lives in the household indicated at the time of registration as the child's primary household.
