Last week, Rachel Kramer (Director, Popular Music) was nominated for the Arts School Network Dr. Denise Davis-Cotton Emerging Leader Award. This recognition is designed to recognize excellence and achievement among rising arts schools administrators and to highlight the educational innovation practices or programs of those leaders.

Harper Shares her Experiences with Race Conversations

At last week's academic/elective staff meeting, Courtney Harper shared her process and experience dealing with meaningful race conversations in her Lit & Comp class. This was especially helpful as the book study for the month centered around this very topic for teachers.

Class of 2021 Senior Wall!

Last Friday, Leadership students supervised by Whitney Coates and Ryan Haywood helped to facilitate the senior wall handprints for the Class of 2021. Seniors selected a time slot, drove through 10th Street, and then used a glove to paint their hand and apply their mark on the wall.

Why didn't we think of the glove idea before? Thank you Whitney and Ryan for supervising!

We will post the positivity report for the last week of data in this section, and you are encouraged to click on the link below to see the expanded data that Orange County is reporting. Data below is extracted from the numbers reported by Orange County Public Health

Register with Othena to Receive the Vaccine when Available!

Last week, Jena Duca (OCSA Director of Human Resources) sent out a link for staff to get registered with Othena in order to be notified when it is time for you to receive the vaccine.

Help Shape our March PD day with Matthew Kay!

On Thursday, March 18th, OCSA will host Matthew R. Kay, author of Not Light, But Fire. for a special Professional Development presentation tailored for Conservatory and Academic teachers. For Academic teacher who are not able to participate in the even on March 18th, a video recording of the presentation will be available on Friday, March 19.

In preparation for these sessions, we want to hear from you: how do you want your PD day to go? Your responses will be tabulated and shared with Matthew as we meet with him to prepare.

Please note: Thursday, March 18 is a NO CONSERVATORY CLASSES day for students due to the PD session. Matthew Kay will be live on Thursday, and all academic, elective, and conservatory are welcome to attend Thursday for the live session.
